    YES!!! Mission accomplished!
At TFCon I finally obtained the last Alternator I needed. I now have all 27 US releases. This also marks the first time I've ever completed a line. WOOOO :rock

    Behold, Camshaft!

Yes, I opened him. Please don't kill me.

The whole family together at last!
Now I just need to find a new place to display them all, as my shelf space ran out.

    That's awesome.
I had no idea you were there too. Geez, there's been a number of people posting on TFW that I didn't know were there. We should have had a meetup or something.

Generally, yes. But in this particular line I prefer Wheeljack to Grimlock and Shockwave to Jazz (I think, I just got Shockwave a week ago- but the head sculpt is so much better and the dark colors hide some of the less appealing aspects of the mold). But I am struggling to think of other instances where I prefer the repaint.

KP Rodimus is incredible. But I didn't realize he was so expensive. I got mine when it was released. So I was suggesting alternatives.

I had looked at that too. I'd like either eventually anyway. But Mirage is about the same price on Ebay, and even worse on Amazon.

I'm seeing plenty in the $50 range (or course i didn't open the listings to check shipping). There's even one for $25, but that makes me nervous. Especially since it's from China. Might be fine though, I didn't look closely at the listing.

Rodimus (as you said yesterday) seems to go for between $100- $200.

Yeah, you're right. I was only looking at ones from the UK, since the shipping on other results is pretty high. With shipping, the cheapest is like £45, that's not so bad.

Where do people get all these heads for their custom figures?

Congrats on completing your line! For display space, one suggestion would be to go to the Container Store and get the 1:24 display cases for cars. You could then put each figure in alt mode in a case and then stack them.

When it comes to redecos, a "one size fits all" mentality doesn't work, as there are far too often more things in play with these instances. Case ratios, time of release/spread of product, popularity of a character...the list goes on.

As I've stated in this thread, Kiss Players Rodimus happened upon a particular set of these kinds of instances that make it not only much more rare, but typically more expensive. I'd recommend just rereading some of the things I posted earlier about it to gain a better understanding of just the strange mix of things that happened for this figure (and pardon the pun when it comes to Kiss Players :lol )

First of all, much of that is past tense. One of the many great things about this line is that since it's scaled at 1:24, it's arguably the most conducive line for creating customs. During the time of the line's release, a great many collectors were trying their hand at customs, for better or for worse. As a result, there was a good network of folks who traded parts and the like.

Some artists took to things such as kitbashing existing heads or sculpting their own. The figures that were on the spectrum of easier to get were often used for kitbashing, so off with their heads! Many of the parts on Alternators such as heads and hands are interchangeable due to the method of construction. So, sometimes even painting a head completely different without any physical changes produces a new character's head.

    aaaaaaah, ok I see.

I also noticed some heads were exchanged with others for the sake of the character....ala, Red Alert.

    Cool stuff.

Anyway, I'm in the market for a Swindle head if anyone has one!

I'm looking at some Trailbreaker mods, and I'm wondering...when it comes to the leg extension mod, how come some legs are chrome and some (like my Nemesis) are black?

Yeah, a lot of people took a BT Asterisk Alert and swapped the head for Prowl. Conversely, some took a Prowl and used a Reprolabels conversion kit to make an Alert.

Here's my Binaltech Red Alert from the BT Prowl mold:

Like SQ7 said, head swapping between alts with some mods is a way.

You can also look at other lines. The larger Kreo figures were also used (e.g. Sideswipe's head for Red Alert). Perhaps some of the Construct Bots would work, although they are a bit rough and perhaps a little bit too big (so would need to fit on an alt who already has a big head). And of course larger figures from other lines (the old Ultra Class/current Leader class).

Exactly. A few things to consider:

Size. Whatever figure you're working with, the head has to fit proportionally as well as work with the transformation.

Style. Not all heads the same size fit with the aesthetic of the robot/character.

Functionality. This one is a little more flexible. Typically, if you have the right head, it can be adjusted either with a rotary tool (neck socket is too smallll for the head) or putty (neck socket is too big for the head.

With adjusting heads, even if the style isn't 100%, things can be shaven off or added to in order to make it work. That all depends on how comfortable one is with kitbashing.

Some recent changes to my Alternators Sunstreaker.

Engine/Guns added to back of head for "G1 chrome engine" look:

...might not be much, but overall it really adds to distinguishing Sunstreaker from Sideswipe. Together they look amazing!

    Thanks man!

...I've done a ton of research on all the awesome work that's been done (like yours) on this toy line. No doubt, I'm a little late to the party, but does it really matter? lol

I just need that damn Swindle head and all will be ready to go with my Nemesis Prime > Trailbreaker!

    RADICON PEOPLE, PLEASE HELP!!!

I FINALLY got a Swindle head.....but....how the hell do I attach it to Nemesis Prime's body?!?! I thought it would just be a plain and simple switcheroo....it's not!

    Any help is appreciated!

edit: I rigged something with some epoxy that seems to do the trick...but I'm still interested in the official swap-mod. So any input would be great.
