    ...Welp.

This certainly explains why Prime went to shit.

...yeah, I think Aligned/BOR was doomed from the moment they started working on it.

that explains a lot about the toy line, Thundertron is a great toy but I always wandered why put a voyager class of someone that never got a mention in the series and why we will never have Unicron or Breakdown hasbro version.
I love Predaking actually, he was a really good character and his arc was closed really well in the movie.

He actually mentioned at the end of the panel that Galvatron was supposed to make her his queen and their army of undead would be the "movie" villains instead of the weird Megaunicron.

Oh thank fucking God this never happened. Because that sounds suspiciously exactly the same as what actually goes down in Pred. Rising, just replace the generic undead models and Airachnid being important for no goddamn reason, since effectively Megaunicron kind of is the Galvatron if only in the concept of how Megsy came back from the dead by Unicron's hand.

Makes me kinda sad to hear about how much drama went on behind the scenes. Of course I ultimately liked the end product anyway, and still love quite a few of the characters. But it does make me wonder how much better Prime could have been if the involved parties had been able to play nice.

It's a good idea, but the people who wrote it are kind of removed from the creative process of producing content like comics or cartoons. In the cases of a successful shared universe (ex DC/Marvel - your mileage may vary) the editors that manage the content are kind of also the ones who help produce it.

Probably why Thundertron got such a big role in Exiles and a Voyager class figure.

While I still think that TfP had systemic issues beyond what was listed above (Optimus's portrayal, Megatron starting as a freedom fighter, etc.), my sympathy for the front-line writers just shot up. Nobody could produce quality work in that kind of chaos.

No argument about Prime himself being utterly cardboard and pointless, but Megatron being a freedom fighter at one point? That's usually the standard status quo for his origin these days - some variation on the "guy named D-16 starts life as a Miner, then ends up rising to glory in the Kaon gladiator pits where he takes the name Megatron, forming the Decepticons out of his followers and seeking to overthrow the oppresive Autobot aristocracy, but ends up becoming a power hungry tyrant that wants nothing but to conquer the planet and establish himself as its dictator" is to be expected.

Prime flubbing that shit up by having Megatron somehow go from a champion gladiator to a political pundit that just randomly demands to be made Prime out of the blue? THAT was stupid because really, Megatron's entire motivation for starting the war, any version of him other than Prime in recent years, was he fucking hated Autobot politics.

I think the G1 writers in comparison had at least a week to churn out the episode-of-the-week plots for the Sunbow cartoon, but that was also without any real need to adhere to any kind of consistent ongoing plot.

From the sounds of it, Prime didn't even have a set end goal AFTER the first season when the first writer meetings were held, and I'm being generous in that assumption. I get the feeling this is only the top of the rabbit hole and the stuff we aren't being told about the show's creation and development process is even more batshit insane I.E. why the fuck Miko was a Japanese transfer student that never spoke what should have been her own native language out of instinctual habit.

We could argue all day about IDW's take on it, but the TFP version never showed any sign that he was anything other than a malicious, megalomaniacal monster, making it that much harder to believe when they did reveal that bit of his past, and especially when he told Prime that he was done with tyranny.

Either way, you're right in that they dropped the ball there, for exactly the reasons you listed.

You're right. The fact that they are even being open about what would be serious issues in another series' production says a lot about what they aren't saying.

What happened to the season 1 crew? And why did the changes in staff happen at all?
And how did Hasbro run out of money? They earn enough on the movies, and if it is projected money for prime, they could put in more to keep control.
Why didn't they just pull the plug on the project when they were about to lose control, or threatened with it? Cause of animated?

    thats the fun part.
You should think that after so many years, they are capable of controlling there OWN BRAND
Many of us expected, dream and wanted this to happen.

Wow. This is really shocking to me. I thought the whole point of Prime and Hasbro Studios was so Hasbro would have complete control over the project. Even not knowing this before I could tell there was some kind of radical shift in season 3. I guess everyone could. Anyway, unfortunate. Prime had some good moments and ideas.

You must not have seen any episodes of any shows featuring either Blackarachnia or Airachnid if you think the latter is a ripoff of the former.

I've seen every episode of every Transformers series and if Autobot Burnout is wrong in thinking that Airachnid was meant to be a Blackarachnia type of character, he is certainly not alone in this opinion as I share it and I've read many other people expressing similar opinions.

The only similarity is that Airachnid has a vague, "not quite" spider mode. That's where the similarities end. They couldn't be more different. It'd be like RID Sideburn is like G1 Tracks because they both turn into blue cars. The only difference is we literally have just the 2 female spider bots to compare.

Anyway, as someone that enjoyed PRIME, it's still apparent that these behind the scenes fights were troubling the final product. I have to wonder why this director was left in charge considering all the grief he gave everyone.
Still, I think they're doing a great job salvaging it with RID2015.

And also, despite the problems that arose with season 3, PRIME still had plenty of problems during its first 2 seasons. Chief among those problems was the lack of characterization for nearly the entire cast. Aside from being soldiers we didn't know anything about them. What do they like & dislike? Hobbies? Anything?
RID has been doing a much better job giving us actual characters instead of just 1-note props.
