The box set figures only came packed together. They didn't separate them out. I imagine they'll stick with this method this year as they have every other year. :)

I agree with that despite my dislikement towards the new Ravage. I dig Tarantulas and Ramhorn though.

What was the split set they were selling last year then? Just the attendee/souvenir figures?

As much as I hate this set, at least it's better than what BM fans get. The last proper beast character from BM I can recall is Titanium Cheetor...and Aaron Archer said Figueroa proposed a design for the "wrong" Cheetor. Ouch! Good indication of how Hasbro feels towards the Series We Don't Talk About :lol

I'm always okay with more BW stuff, no matter what it is. Heck, you should see some of the weird BW themes crap I have in my collection. I'm even really okay with this years set, aside from a few knee-jerk reactions (earth modes for BW characters work farr less than Cybertronian modes, IMO) But I'll get them, and I'll love them.

I really don't like CW though. I think they are bad molds with too many retools (of which these are more of) of which fanboys spend their time wanking off to. But I understand that decisions were made, and I can live with it, especially if it means seeing more BW anything.

I just really, really hate FunPub. :/

Maybe I'm just biased but I don't get the hate people have for CW. At least it's something, and also Hasbro has actual budget concerns unlike certain groups.

People aren't allowed to have an opinion? I'm fine with it so long as they back it up with reasoned justification.

In the case of AEC, I'd say Armada and Energon deserve new molds before Cybertron. Cybertron had really good articulation across the board, A and E suffered because of the lame gimmicks.

Yes. General Optimus & Sgt. Hound 2 Pack, Waruder 4 Pack, and Diaclone 2 pack. Those were the souvenirs and were sold that way. Well that and the Kreon set.

I don't even understand what's wrong with wanting Beast Wars toys that transform into, you know, beasts.

I just want good renditions of characters. Same reason why I didn't want the supposed Armada Demolishor from the Hot Spot/Onslaught mould, I wanted him to be done properly.

    "Wanting" is one thing.

Throwing a temper tantrum using words like "deserve" and "slap in the face" is another.

I want new Beast Wars in beast molds, but I'm not in a tizzy because they did something different this time.

As somebody once said, it's becoming "TRUKK NOT MUNKY" in reverse.

Well, I have never said those things so I don't understand your point.

And I have frankly seen this kind of mentality coming from G1 fans more than anyone else.

The problem with homaging Beast Wars characters is that many of them are named after the thing they turn into ("Tarantulas," "Cheetor," "Waspinator," "Rhinox," and so on). So whenever you make a new figure for them, if they don't turn into that thing anymore, you have the problem of why they're still called that. This story is evidently going to take place before Tarantulas goes to Earth, so why is he called Tarantulas if he doesn't turn into a tarantula and has never seen a tarantula before? There's already that disconnect there.

Well...after a mediocre Cheetor and Dinobot, we got an awesome Rhinox and Rattrap, and even Waspinator! Then...uh...not much. They've trickled out new molds for BW very very slowly over the years. I know BW isn't as high a priority for updates, but damn dude, compare the number of G1 characters a year to the number of new BW molds.

I think BW fans are getting frustrated at Hasbro's relative neglect of the Beast era, and it doesn't help to cry that they're "entitled" when they bemoan something like this awful idea for a Botcon set.

It always comes back to "G1 fans cry more" with the Beastie guys. Teacher, they do it too. You do understand this is Botcon, and they can't make new molds that transform into beasts. This is their way to pay homage to the beast era while working within their parameters. Hell, it is nice that they are giving all 5 new heads (that doesn't happen with botcon sets). Don't like that they threw out a homage, don't buy it. Hell, buy some of the rats clogging the shelves in my area at both TRU and Walmart and paint them all the colors of the rainbow.

I can't wait till Botcon 2016 is over, it has done nothing but allow this little niche fangroup spread their rage over more threads.

Because you're not selling them on their alternate forms, but on their character. Same reason why nobody cares what form Optimus Prime takes as long as he's recognizably Optimus Prime.

Part of the issue with slapping beast heads on vehicles is the incongruity. The BW characters mostly have rounded, organic heads that at least somewhat resemble their beast modes. Slapping organically shaped heads on bodies with sharp mechanical lines is kinda jarring, and only adds to the weirdness. I think if the BW characters would have had more angled, less naturalistic heads, this wouldn't come off as goofy as it is.

Because of his spider like quality of character and the way he likes to tantalise and tease his prey.

All the predacons also have a predatory nature and the maxiMALS have AniMAL qualities

Cheetor's speed, rhinox's build and rattraps deceptive nature etc even primal has that sort of alpha leader of the pack quality of a gorrilla
