Complaining about quality is never going to work, the fact of the matter is that this is the only half-decent Megatron toy out there and X-Transbots can get away with whatever they want because until a viable competitor comes along they're the only game in town. And the new designs in the pipeline have a steeper hill to climb because they have a much steeper hill to climb - people are not going to ditch their Apollyons unless the new toy is a significant improvement and who knows if the other 3P companies are capable of that.

I guarentee if the name Takara was on the box rather than Xtransbots there would be 90% less complaining for this AMAZINGLY AWESOME figure.

I also guarentee the price would be $199.99 for ALL that you get with Apollyon.
Many forget that mp-5 was around $200 and that didn't include the stock and silencer third party piece.

Apollyon makes Mp-5 look like a G1 toy megatron and I really LIKE Mp-5 and g1 toy megatron

    Can't play with Apollyon?... HA!
Xtransbots gets figure of the year and I think third party of the year. For any and all mistakes they made , they took care of their customers in the end.

I don't know about anyone else, but, I've played with and transformed mine plenty. I don't go into it thinking that he's unbreakable and i do it all carefully, but i also approach my officials like that too.

As I've said, any G1 based Pistol Megatron is going to feel more fiddly and less solid than any other MP, especially during transformation, without partsforming you're always going to have rods, bars, pins and other thin pieces.

I also guarantee the plastic would have been sturdier, the paint better, and the QC/QA not so variable from figure to figure. There will be people who argue that people who got negative copies will post more, but this guy has a shitload of defenders that I feel off set that notion.

I have a very good X-TB Apollyon, the thing's paint is flawless and his joints tighter than a virgin, but I would still gladly pay more for the improvements I mentioned. Even if it was $50, (now only 35,) more. We've come a long way since MP-05 so I'm not sure if that's the standard I want to compare it to but if you want to, go ahead. Opinions are opinions and we're all entitled to them. But I don't think you should argue that X-TB is a better company than Takara, both have their merits and drawbacks.

I think you miss-understood him. Pretty sure he isn't saying xtb are better than TT, he's saying if it was a TT figure, as it is now, there wouldn't be as many ppl complaining and I tend to agree with him.

Apollyon really isn't anywhere near as bad as ppl make out and there seem to be alot of 'lucky' owners of the figure.

I have no regrets with my v1 Apollyon. If you want to know if the negativity is legit or because of haters, look at the first few posts of this thread even before Apollyon was for sale, people were already saying negative things about XTB.

I have a V2 and I can't think of any issues that I have with it that are QC related. Paint is perfect. The only Transformation critique I have is the sliding of the chest up and down seems like over time it might break. But I've pulled really hard and it's held up, so who knows.

Now that I've done the transformation, I can't complain about it since it's not that bad once you've done it once.

For pricing, as someone else pointed out, you get practically every accessory you could want. If the original price was $200, I honestly think it would've sold just as well.

One thing though is I wish that X-Transbots were more open about their intentions to do a 2nd run and to make improvements. They should've done a small run of like 500 or something and then got feedback. A lot more people would be a lot happier if they all had the V2 I think. Maybe I've missed them, but I haven't seen anyone who's complained about QC and had a V2.

I'm just playing devils advocate here because some of the comments in this thread about opinions on Apollyon imply a bit of a lack of self awareness.

Yeah but there are plenty of people who weren't as lucky. Thats not in any way a knock on the figure or company. But just because it didnt happen to you, doesn't mean it didn't happen to some. I have 1 friend who's figure broke out of the box and another that had to have his replaced twice before he got a good one. And then i have a friend who's Apollyon was perfect. It was a crapshoot.

Anybody who got a dud, has the right to complain, especially at the price they paid.

Anybody that got a good one should shout it from the rooftops, but don't make out people are playing up the issues, that just gets peoples backs up.

People are entitled to their opinions, whether they bought it or not. Personally ive had previous mp efforts from xtransbots and felt like I got screwed. Does that prejudice me? Yes. Is it unfair? Not really. Will I buy from them again? Fuck no. Fansproject, Maketoys, Perfect Effect, Unique Toys, Iron Factory and DX9 have never screwed me over on a purchase so I'll stick to them. But I wont judge people that love Xtransbots, but Im entitled to say I dont like them without a fanboy coming and labelling me crap because I had an issue with a previous figure they didnt.

What a lot of you really arent getting is, this figure divides opinion, you may love it, you may hate it, but whining that some people dont share your opinion and theyre wrong/haters/over dramatic is a red rag to a bull, youre making it worse by not respecting the opinions of others. The thread about 'is there a bias against Apollyon' yesterday was about as whiny and butthurt as it gets. Enjoy the toy, dont play the victim.

Just discuss your toy, enjoy it, you got your moneys worth, and stop trying to make out the nasty haters are coming in and persecuting you for buying it. You guys regularly run them straight out of the thread in short order anyway.

I swear to god this figure has started more fights than any figure in TF history...

Sorry if my comments sounded harsh, but really, who cares if people dont like the toy, it doesnt diminish your enjoyment and nobody is sympathetic when a nerd plays victim over a toy. I know most of what I say here will either inflame or be ignored, it doesnt matter, wont spoil any of our evenings anyway.

Good luck gents in your crusade for justice

I'll add my two cents. The only real issue I have with Apollyon is the tabs to secure the legs to the crotch. Really wish there was a better way of securing the legs. Other than that, this guy is a winner. I agree that if this figure had been done by TT, the "official" purists out there would be beside themselves extolling how great this figure is. It is what it is though. Great job XTB!

I agree he's not as bad as many make him out to be, but he's not as great as many extol him to be. He's good, and that's about it. He aint' great, and he ain't shit, he's just good. But he could have been magnificent, and I think that's what pisses so many off. It's put me off X-TB for good.

My whole experience was just so disappointing, that I'm done with them. I won't say Apollyon is bad, because he's not, but he doesn't want to make me roll the dice on another of their products. If people like zfarsh, deaculpa, David Hingten, and skyfire87 say their products are awesome, the QC/QA is tight, and the plastic is of good quality then I'll rethink my position. And that's because I know their taste and expectations are similar to mine. Until then X-TB's products will always be B-list in my mind, and I don't want a B-list item.

I prefer TT to 3P, I'm no 3P fanatic whatsoever, and i can tell you even without the TT on the box and a Con logo tampoed on his chest that i like my Apollyon, he's pretty solid for what he is and how he's made. I can safely say that if TT releases one, he'll be mine in main display, but I'll be keeping Appy for alt mode.

There are a few 3P i want despite waiting for TT like Willys and Sphinx...those are some damn nice figures there. Apollyon has his flaws like I'm not a fan of the face with a few things offto me, but he's no steaming pile of crap. Of course i can only base my findings on my personal figure, but, mine is no piece of shit, he is solid, tight and i like how he looks. He fits MP to a T, a perfect mix of toy and toon. I do expect TT could do better, but, that doesn't mean Appy is a bad figure, at least to those who got good ones.

Funny thing is that it looks to be mostly the same people from that thread trying to stir shit up in this one...

I don't think I have seen a single post from certain ones in that crowd that weren't just there to bash on the figure featured in the thread.

The forum has an ignore function for that reason. You'll find that filtering a dozen or so trolls that love to hate on everything really cuts out a ton of the clutter that isn't worth reading. The whole forum is so much more pleasant afterwards ;)

Can you guys confirm for me that the second run actually has fixes to the mold as mentioned in the first post? I have the first run and was going to sell it to buy the second run, but when I emailed BBTS about it, they said that Xtramsbots didn't mention any mold fixes, so they didn't differentiate from them in their listing. So I'm now hesitant to order from them. Thanks!

I just placed an order yesterday from BBTS. I'll let you know which version they sent me in a few days.
