Anyone else feel sorry for that guy that got both the Platinum Avohkii and a carat gold Hau and was near onto completing the collection but then LEGO produced several different carat gold masks all going to different people?
For a second, I do...then I remember that he has the Platnum Avokhii and a solid gold Hau, and my sympathy starts to dry up.
Amazon.com: LEGO BIONICLE: Gathering of the Toa (Graphic Novel #1) (9780316266222): Ryder Windham: Books >that cover ALL MY YES Also https://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=youtube_gdata_player&v=OjhDoXOZEyY OH SHIT THEY HINTED THE UNITERS
I dig the foreshadowing to the Uniters. Also, that cover is what the animations should look like. I really, really need to pick up Kulta and Ekimu. Moreso than the others.
I'm kinda bummed that the Toa didn't show up in their 2016 forms at the end there. Having read the book I would have assumed that's what would have happened. Still, the webisode was actually pretty good on its own merits. This is the first time the Toa have been in actual peril in the animations. As for the Graphic novel, it looks alright. The cover art is okay, but nothing spectacular. At least it looks better than those mini-comics that came out much earlier this year that gave Lewa bunny ears for whatever reason.
Well that was an abrupt finale. I'm a bit annoyed how Kulta never properly used the MOC but seeing as the Summer arc was about just finding Ekimu I guess the plans of Skull Grinder never really mattered in the long run. A shame really. He could've taken the golden masks and made shadow duplicates of the Toa or made himself into a monster using pieces of his army (and advertise the toy combine modes) but I guess it wasn't meant to be. I will say I do admire the dedication the Toa put up despite losing their masks and losing practically all their strength.
Let's revive this thread with some skull basher concept art: LEGO.com LEGO Club Article - Meet the Man who Makes Monsters! So yes, the Skull add-on piece is supposed to look like fur. >tfw Uniter Tahu has golden fur 10/10
I like how his staff has mask-like skulls mounted on it. Too bad it was definitely something that didn't make it to the final product.
Looks like he had more red on him in concept. Interesting. I'm kinda annoyed he didn't come with those chains in his set. Would've been cool IMO. Speaking of Skull Basher, here's a question to help bring some life back to the thread and kill time: What backstory do you give for the Skull Army?
They seemed to exist before The MOUP incident, considering Ekimu knows Skull Grinder and Skull basher (I suppose slicer too, considering we was the arena champion). Ekimu also seems to know that Kulta is controlled by his brother. Maybe they were Makuta's servants/henchmen? Considering the few pieces of art they've given us and the box art, Skull warrior(s) seemed to be the guards of the ancient city. Not sure about Scorpio. Maybe they were part of a zoo? Who knows.
I haven't really fleshed it out, but basically, Kulta and his army are the reanimated corpses of a race of giants that once conquered Okoto and enslaved the populace, at least until Ekimu and Makuta incited a rebellion and put Kulta down for good (or so they thought). Kulta still wants to destroy the Mask of Creation, but first he wants to re-establish his empire on Okoto and crush everything Ekimu holds dear as revenge for his demise at the Mask Maker's hands.
