    :lolol

Yeah but with the MCU they were planning it from the start. Transformers had 4 movies that despite making a lot of money, it doesn't really go anywhere.

so you're saying you won't have a license then? :p

I think that's why he's mad. He wanted Jazz to do something and be a somebody here.

and this wish will never happen. :/

    pretty much. :|

Agreed, we must keep in mind if Hasbro wants to continue with the Universe we have right now, whatever or not Bay stays, they will continue. if they want to reboot, they will reboot, but if they dont want, they wont. for example the reason we had a fourth film in the franchise is because Hasbro wanted to continue, not because Bay said so.

Many franchises kept going even after the Director stepped down, Jurassic Park for example. Steven stepped down after 2, then 3 and 4 continued with different directors (Even 5 will have a new director, still continuing where 4 left off)

I'm all for more Transformers movies. I'll never get tired of them. I just want a new director and creative team pumping them out now. Michael Bay had his run, time to hand the series off.

Also, they claim the movies are "5, 6, 7, and 8". But, I'm willing to bet a couple of those are spin-offs (like the rumored Cybertron prequel movie).

What mentality would that be? That the movies have more beneficial effects on the TF franchise than there are detrimental?

I said that the live actions can be uneven (and/or trash -- I personally think ROTF and AOE were not all that enjoyable; TFTM and DOTM remain my two favorite of the Bay movies however imperfect/problematic they are), not that they must be uneven trash.

Yes, there is a point of diminishing returns where the films start losing money rather than making money for both Paramount and Hasbro. Do people truly think we've reached that point yet? I get the feeling that folks here actually want the sequels to reach that point. And for what exactly? Out of spite against Bay? THAT type of attitude benefits no one.

Despite domestic box office take decreasing for AOE (and the much ballyhooed pandering to Chinese audience; hey, gotta pander to somebody if not Americans; go Murica!), the fact remains that the movie was still profitable. Profits are good for the TF brand, no matter the source.

As far as respect goes, whose respect are we even talking about? Does Paramount/Hasbro even give two shits about garnering said respect? I say no. What they do seemingly care about is profits, and money talks louder than respect, is what I gather from Bay and company (I'm not supporting or denouncing this stance; merely pointing out the obvious).

Could the movies be better from a critical point of view? Could they become high art instead of just mindless summer blockbuster entertainment? Sure, of course. I think they're trying to get a better direction/handle of what the sequels will be about given all the recent press about writers pitching their ideas for the next 4+ movies.

I don't think for a moment that all of these sequels/spin-offs will be directed personally by Bay himself though, so there's still some hope of an artistic change for the better. It's way too soon for the doom and gloom being trumpeted by a very vocal minority of the fandom, IMHO. Me, I'm cautiously optimistic.

Personally, I'm hoping he meant exactly what he said...four more sequels for a total of eight films in the series.

But even if he simply meant four more movies, consisting of prequels, sequels, and spin-offs, they'll presumably STILL be set within the same continuity so that's cool news, too.

Either way, I can't wait for more!

who'd of imagined that eight years after releasing the first live-action movie, that the majority of that base is dreading the making of 5, 6, 7, AND an 8th film!

    fuck you very much Bay.

I can't do this anymore. I just cannot deal with this franchise anymore.

These movies have, in a way, ruined Transformers for me. Hasbro and Michael Bay have taken characters that we've come to know and love for many years and twist them into something that some of us can't truly identify as "Transformers". How am I supposed to enjoy Transformers anymore if there's a version of Optimus Prime who kills a human, or if the titular characters themselves are always in the backseat while the human characters drone on and on with sex jokes and stereotypes? I can't just simply switch off my brain for a movie that's notorious for all of that. I'm honestly ashamed to call myself a fan of Transformers whenever there's news of another movie being made, or any time there's news about the movies in general. It just makes me feel terrible.

Now, if TFW2005 could just take all of the movie threads and just make a new part of their network that focuses solely on the Transformers movies, maybe that might help mitigate the fandom a little. This is just a suggestion, I'm not begging any of the mods or admins to make this happen. It's merely a thought.

If nothing else, it means more of your deep, introspective analyses on the real themes of these films.

Like I said earlier, it sounded so much like an off the cuff remark, just the way he added the "and six, and seven, and eight" almost as if there should be an "etc." thrown in there, I wouldn't take it too literally that it's even going to be literally eight movies in totally, just that they're planning on making them up until at least 2025.

War for Cybertron. Fall of Cybertron. Transformers Prime. Even this upcoming Transformers Devastation game.... None of them would exist unless Hasbro and Michael Bay came along and made people actually give a shit about the Transformers franchise again.

No one's saying you've gotta go see the movies, or even enjoy them. But, this whole "the movies are ruining the franchise" bit? It's bullcrap.

    Well, firstly...THANKS!

That said, OMFG I KNOWWW. Can't wait to get started!

Jeeezus, I'm still not even caught up with all the threads I've been planning to write for the first four movies, lol.

    O_O

    Yeah, that's a good point.

However, at the rate they've been cranking them out so far, "ten more years" effectively equals "at least four more live action movies," fwiw.

Why not just reboot the line? Use the models from the Devastation video game, let's get somebody to direct that won't Michael Bay us to death and BAM!...we'll have a very good but unfortunately not very profitable movie that all us collectors will be happy with! :D

The problem is that even if a person doesn't watch the films it's impossible to completely ignore them.

Studios spend way too much money on the big summer films for people to be completely oblivious to them. Trailers, TV ads, other forms of advertising and buzz, unless you have your eye on trying out the Amish lifestyle for about a year to two years it's impossible not to stumble upon the marketing.

Kind of hard to collect other lines and not ever see any movie related toys. There is always that transition period where retailers are attempting to get rid of the slower moving movie toys and transition over into one of the other Transformers lines.

Plus it just kind of looks bad that something could be so fan hostile that fans would have to leave the hobby for a while. I know you can't please 100% of the people 100% of the time, but dang you'd think they could do a bit more to make it one big happy Transformers family instead of the us vs them we end up with.

Honestly I'm hoping for some straight to DVD or Netflix animated movies, much like the Marvel or DC stuff.

It could be a good format for them to try some of the things we all have been asking for?

I think.what I'd be worry about is what happened in my city this year. The movie toys came in 2014 & especially Wal-Mart bought like UNGODLY numbers of wave one and after a month or two, no.one bought them for a long time and now they.are afraid to buy more so were stuck with just one steps and the occasional box of deluxes (like ONE box all year of wave 1 combiner wars and 1 box of wave 3. NO WAVE 2 OR SECOND BOXES!)

OR like every other problem where there was 8 lines of movie toys no room for collectors lines. YES TRU did get them in but I live 2 & 1/2 hours from TRU :/

On the other hand maybe they can stick yo 2 lines of movies and 2 lines of TV & collectors because that would be sick and if they made GOOD movie toys that would rock too! Plus I like the movies (even know I own AOE DVD & haven't watched it after I saw it in the theater).

That's silly. There's so many other things you can do with this franchise. Comics, toy collecting, Masterpiece, hell, even 3P.

Getting "pushed out' because today isn't your day isn't a good scapegoat for just being tired of the hobby, and that happens come rain or shine.

And it goes both ways too. Anti-movie Transformer fans have more than certainly done their part to push people out and lambaste them because the "I think the movies suck and therefore you shouldn't like it if I don't like it/or the movies suck and you suck too" mentally is rampant.

My Walmart still has those fucking 3-step changers.

What few actual toys the line had, okay, but I'm so sick of those things warming pegs.
