So we're getting, what another 3 hours of the female lead running in slow motion?

I really, really hope they learn something from what Viacom did with the TMNT movie. That is not canceling the current show and toyline because the new movie is coming out, but rather putting in on haitus for a few months.

As for all our complaints... Well see the problem is money talks louder and since AOE made like a billion dollars...

What, 7 & 8? That's unexpected. I'm interested to see what direction the movies go in. They have multiple opportunities to improve, yet just as many to screw up.

In any case, I hope the toylines go back to ROTF-quality days; if they continue with AOE toyline quality, the movie toys will be dead to me. Which would be a complete shame.

I was okay with the movieverse up to this point, however I hope it doesn't mean 4 movies filled of Takara exclusive Transformers that Hasbro didn't make.

I'm not really thinking this deep hatred anymore now that we've had a set of heads together and Ehren Kruger is not being used again.

    I feel the same.

Yeah... I usually don't bother commenting on movie threads since I am not a big fan of them. On one hand- I suppose it's a good thing that the TFs franchise is doing well enough that Hasbro is planning movies years into the future, and the movies' success seems to translate into success for other areas of TFs I do actually care about.
Bad news is well, sounds like I've got 10 more years of not bothering to watch TF movies to "look forward" to. *sigh*. Maybe someday they'll make some movies that feature interesting Transformer characters who I wind up /actually caring what happens to them/, and feature storylines with plots that give me a reason to care as well. I saw the first movie which was so-so and haven't seen any since, since nothing I've heard about the rest sounded remotely like anything I want to see. If I want to see explosions I can watch videos on YouTube- don't need to pay movie prices for that. If I want to see a movie mostly about human characters- well, I've got most movies being made today for that. Maybe someday there will be a movie called Transformers that actually explores /Transformers/ in the way it /could/ be done.

BTW I wouldn't take it literally that there will be exactly eight movies. If you watch the clip, the way he just throws in "and six, and seven, and eight" casually just means that it's going to be an ongoing thing and that they plan to continue making movies for at least the next ten years.

The toys are the only things I care about any more; AoE was mind-numbing in how stupid and bloated it was, and the toyline was the weakest one yet.

We will never get anything Macross/Robotech again as long as Harmony Gold continue being heartless bastards. And that doesn't look like it's stopping any time soon.

Keep I mind, just because they've announced all these it by no means they are locked in stone. They can still change or outright cancel any or all of them.

Remember all the Spider-Man movies Sony had planned out?

in my hearts of hearts I kept believing that the last two movies would be enjoyable pieces of fiction and each time I have been sorely disappointed. people keep getting excited and holding this light of hope but I believe the franchise is too far gone and its more like 'I will watch this opening weekend just so I can see what they have done this time around' rather than im soo excited for the next instalment.

Can't wait. Let the critics complain as quite frankly, I'm not moved by whatever argument they've had. It's not a perfect continuity and to date, there isn't such a thing in all the TF universe. This movie realm has gone further and further along than anyone could expect and I'm glad to see it keep going. So much still to offer, new minds creatively, so why stop or do something so ridiculous as reboot?
