Even though I'm super late to the party...Just wanted to chime in on my Apollyon (v2) and say that I opened and transformed him over the last week and he was flawless and I do mean flawless. No scratches, barely any chest dimple, no paint flaws and all his parts were moveable and tabbed in correctly.

The orange plugs came out with a twist in both the extra stock an the barrel he transformed back and forth with no real issue. He is a bit fiddly to lock together in alt mode, but otherwise I must say I was very relieved based on the stories I've read in the thread overall.

Even my shoulder joints are pretty good. They can hold up the cannon in some poses as they are but I'll probably put in the stiffer joints when he goes on permanent display. All my accessories including the shoulder joints and screwdriver and extra scope/weapon piece were there.

If I can manage to get Elligos and Andras with this kind of build quality, I may actually become an X-Transbots fan!!! So happy I dodged the massive QC bullet!! :D :D :D :D :D

I love my Apollyon V.1. I guess I got lucky since I have no issues other than having to replace the shoulder joints with the included replacements. I love the way he looks on the shelf. He has so much presence and just nails the look of Megatron so well. Feels good in hand too. Nice and hefty. I'll probably never transform him, though. I have miniature gun-mode Megatrons for that. It's enough for me to know that if I wanted to transform him, I could.

I normally don't buy 3P items, but Apollyon looked so good that I broke my parameters. I'm happy with him and think 539 Designs did a fantastic job on him. The materials could've been better, but that's not his fault. Now I anxiously await Takara-Tomy's answer to this wonderful piece.

Question, has anyone been able to get their Apollyon's arms to move outward like shown in this picture?

It's a mod that requires removing a part from the shoulders like this.

There's a part on the shoulders taken out of the top. You just unscrew it and take it off.

Just a matter of using a screwdriver and removing or reinstalling a few screws if you want to put them back.

I would pay cash monies for an upgrade kit of those panels that gives them a hinge so they don't have to be removed for that extra movement.

Just got Apollyon in the mail today, and I must say, this toy really puts the fear of God into you whenever you try to do anything with it, which I suppose is appropriate for Megatron's character. I actually managed to break a piece off doing the very first step of the transformation, but thankfully that little flap was fairly easy to just superglue back on. Applying the decal was pretty simple though it's just a smidge off center which I'm sure is going to give me nightmares for years to come. I'll probably do the shoulder swap and install the batteries later today, hopefully I won't have any problems with that.

All that aside though, this really is a great looking toy and is just completely spot on in both modes. I suppose Megatron toys will always involve some degree of compromise between accuracy and engineering but I think this is just about as good as it gets. Now I just have to decide whether I need to pick up MP-10 or try and fill out the Decepticon ranks first.

    Congrats!

I was in the same place as you when this came out and I recently picked up MP-10 due to the thinking that I needed a scaled Optimus Prime if I was going to collect MPs. I'm in the minority but I was actually pretty disappointed in MP-10. I was never a big fan of OP so that may be part of it but another part is just in comparison to Megatron, it's not as good a toy to me. I don't regret the purchase but I will say that if you don't care about the trailer, I would highly recommend taking a close look at the KO options. They have better paint applications and just look like more of a premium figure...closer to Megatron.

Aren't the KO's of Prime taller than the original? If so, a KO would be taller than Megatron.

I think they could have done some things a lot better on MP-10. It's by no means "perfect version". But I still would recommend it. The trailer and extras are nice, especially if you go for the Hasbro Asia release. And it is *excellent* for posing. You can get some great action shots with it and Apollyon.

Like many others, my major problem was how the hips fall out of place easily on both sides. So than I made sure that both black hidden tabs in the crotch were flipped outward and pegged into the hip pieces. This only helped SLIGHTLY.

Does anyone have a fix for this? Do you recommend I apply clear nail polish or Future polish to the black hidden tabs in the center crotch piece so that they hold the outer hips pieces better? Please advise.

I put drops of superglue at the ends of the hip pegs and let it dry. It really helped.

So the superglue didn't give you any issue with the pegs being permanently stuck to the outer hip pieces? What brand of superglue was used and is it a clear glue?

I'm guessing superglue is better than clear polish in this case?
