How did you actually get a conversation with a real person from PayPal?

You're right, it's not complicated. You were after the trailer weren't you? You got what you were after didn't you?

Do you really think people bought the trailer/figure because of some freebies we all knew were going to be some relatively small items? Do you really think people wanted those three little free items more than the trailer or figure itself? I don't. And if I didn't want the trailer or figure I sure as shit wouldn't have paid for one and would have said to hell with the trailer and freebies for buying it.

Bottom line, people wanted the trailer or figure/trailer bundle. If they didn't, the freebies meant shit. No one bought those based on a "promise". Either you wanted the trailer and/or figure and we're excited for bonuses or you didn't care and didn't buy it. As I said, no one bought that membership that didn't want those items anyway.

You can't honestly expect me to believe you only bought the trailer because of some promised freebies. So I don't buy the whole induced purchases. You're a regular here as am I and I generally enjoy discussions you're involved in. I guess we just won't see eye to eye here and that's ok.

We're all entitled to our own opinions.

I paid money for the trailer and four minicons, and discounts/access to exclusive releases.

i have not received all that I paid for.

If you're happy calling all that is missing just "freebies" with no value, go ahead.

People who are claiming that 'free' things or lack thereof isn't skin off anyone's ass is dead wrong.

We paid for the trailer, the figures, the option to buy exclusives and got 75% of that, at best.

FP's White Knights seem to overlook the fact that it was US who bought the damn things, and actually try to patron one of the hottest 3rd Party manufacturers AT THE TIME. (Yes, I said it - the fact that they rested on their laurels and coasted for a whole year speaks volumes on their current state)

The fact that both parties get to deny accountability and blame it on the other show how little follow-through actually was planned for this - retroactively, this amounts to nothing but a cash grab, given the outcome.

Just because it's a nebulous 3rd party company that goes dark from time to time does not give them and their reps license to act like dicks after the fact.

I think, but I'm not certain, that calling the membership a "bonus" and the way this is phrased changes the legalese around and makes the purchase a bit more clear, at least as far as any disputes would be concerned.

It means you bought the trailer (or the deluxe package) and they gave you the membership for free with your purchase. It doesn't mean you bought the trailer (or deluxe package) AND the membership. And since it is listed as a "bonus" and not part of what you were actually purchasing (the trailer or deluxe package), you can't say it was a material part of the purchase that you made. It's just a bonus.

If anyone is still unsure, see if you can find your original purchase invoice from when you bought the trailer/package. Does the invoice say you've paid for the trailer / deluxe package, or does it say you've paid for the trailer / deluxe package AND a membership? That might be the ultimate decider as to whether or not you'd even be entitled to a refund, partial or full (never mind whether or not you can get one, that'd be a separate issue).

That's all I've been saying. I'm glad it makes sense to someone other than myself so I'm not sounding crazy.

To all you ready to raise the pitch forks and make baseless claims without reading my posts in their entirety, No white knighting here. Just trying to be reasonable. I said all along its shitty we didn't get what they promised. But I don't feel I deserve a refund for some freebies that never materialized. I got my trailer and two free solerons which given the fpcore track record I'm actually happy.

You were a patron to FP Core, a completely separate company connected to the Canadian reseller Ages 3 and Up, which has questionable ties to actual FansProject, most likely through partial ownership.

Note that FP Core no longer even uses the word FansProject in the title, instead it's just FP.

Also note that FP Core has always had questionable business practices at best, so this shouldn't be a surprise to anyone.

I bought the Trailer only and the invoice did not mention anything about a BONUS Membership.

However, assuming that it did, how and who decides the actual value of the Membership for someone to receive a refund?

There's an option to contact them where they give you a code and a phone number to call.

FPCore is not Fansproject. I don't see anyone being a white knight. I just don't think it's reasonable to expect getting money back on this.

i'm not looking for money back either...i wanted the trailer i got the trailer and the other stuff is extra...my issues are the disgusting degree of lack of communication and the fact nothing was promised ever came to light. i remember when osmi can out they said there was a different freebie on deck they had some sort of issue with so we got osmi instead....so what happened to that freebie? is there still a problem? what about freebie 4? it's insane how badly they dropped the ball here...does no one live by their actual store in canada? why haven't they been approached about this at all on their doorstep?

Well all I know is, I don't expect to get what we were promised simply because of their lack of communication/updates. I haven't even thought about getting my money back. Honestly, I really doubt I'd do any business with FPCore again unless they actually show something worthwhile. But definitely no membership renewals.

    *edit*

At any rate, I just posted a message on FP Core's site asking about the freebies that we were supposed to get. I wonder if the admins will "approve" the comment? :D

I don't know why everyone is have a discussion about this. I doesn't even matter. You won't get your money back for the free items they promised you, so you might as well sit back and suck it up. Yes I will ask them about it at TFCON but if nothing happens oh well. I got my trailer.

That's the thing. If it doesn't mention it on the invoice, you paid nothing for it, and so the amount of money exchanged for the service is zero, regardless of what anyone could claim it is worth. FPcore gave it to you for zero dollars. So your refund for the membership would be zero dollars.

The "actual value" of the membership would be determined by whatever FPcore charged for just the membership alone, but it's all moot if you paid zero dollars for it. The invoice says you bought the trailer, and you got the trailer, and that meets the requirements of the terms of sale. Anything else is literally a free bonus.

Yes, I understand that. What I don't understand is, if people are seriously out to get a partial refund for just the membership and freebies, how would they dispute that if there isn't a way to determine the value of said membership and freebies? Seems like a waste of time.

Right. What I'm saying is: if the invoice doesn't show you paid for the membership, and it was listed as a bonus, then you're trying to get a refund for zero dollars.

This would be like if someone gave you a figure, for free, and it broke. And then you tried to get a refund for the retail price of the figure, which you didn't pay for in the first place.

would that even be one of the freebies? why would it be for a specific figure that isn't in this series so to speak. the warbots and function x are two different lines.

Someone at TFCon saw it and said it was supposed to be the second freebie that wasn't ready.
