Major letdown... oh boy, we got the wedding...and then.... we really didn't. Sheldon is rattled and showing some emotion, there's that. So silly... might be time to walk away.....not much new and surprising left with this bunch.
I enjoy watching the series, I don't think it's hilarious or my favorite show ever, but I generally enjoy the series. But if they don't pick up the pieces with this season, I may very well drop this series, because that was a terrible season opener. (On a side note I thought Castle had a terrible one as well)
Is it just me or is penny becoming more a b!tch as this series goes on. Also the premeire and it was disapointing.
Yeah I was not very satisfied with this premiere. Really haven't been a fan of the massive shift to 100% relationship issues in general anyway, but this episode in particular just really put me off. Meh, at least building the LEGO set during it was fun.
I wonder if the quality of this season will suffer because Bill Brady (One of the Executive Producers) is now putting in a lot of effort with The Muppets and not able to contribute to BBT as much as before.
As much as I was looking forward to the new season, the first episode really did not do it for me. Here's hoping it turns around as the season goes on.
Well.... Raj was funny but the 2nd ep wasn't much better, tho .... Spoiler .....it did end with them consummating their marriage.
Sheldon actually trying to keep a relationship is hilarious. I'm just curious to see how the living arrangements play out.
2 shows into the new season and it sucks. It's clearly going to be an entire season about Sheldon trying to get Amy back. No thank you.
I caught up on the new season's eps last night. Not sure what everyone's problem is - they're exactly no better or worse than anything else we get from this show. They hammer out 22-24 of these per season, so I never expect they'll ALL be gold. Especially not anymore now that the show is about (aging) couples.
This show lost its luster when all the guys got girlfriends and started getting laid; all of the elements that made the show funny are gone... and I still hate Penny's short, pixie hair. She looks like a little boy from behind.
So the funny elements were that they were four geeks pining over girls they could never get? Over ten years, all the characters have grown tremendously in character development, seeing them handle their relationships as they've matured is IMO a lot more interesting than seeing the same old "oh look we're super geeks that are socially awkward" year after year. Leonard and Penny's wedding may not have been the shabang people were expecting, but it stayed true to her character and his character as she has opened him up to experience life in th e moment. Then true to his character, he finds the insight as to why they have always had doubts despite their love for one another. I'll give BBT much more credit for handling the dramedy aspects of the show better than HIMYM.
Yes, but to each their own... and it wasn't just the "pining" but the hijinks that would ensue when they would hatch schemes to get women. That was fun. I thought Howard being a pervert, Raj's socially awkwardness and Leonard's inability to land Penny were central to the show and the reason for its success. Of course, they had to mature at some point, but the initial elements that made the show funny are all gone without a trace, except for Sheldon being Sheldon. Speaking of Sheldon, when the show first started, he and Leonard were on par intellectually, but now, Sheldon is seen as a genius, while Leonard is more like an average smart guy.
Disagree on the Seldom still being a genius part. In fact, they downgraded his intelligence when he realized string theory is worthless. Whereas Leonard has gone on research trips and that time he had some idea that Sheldon was given credit for. And after ten seasons of those core reasons, people would complain that it's the same gags season after season. Some of those elements are still there though. Leonard internally struggles with trying to keep Penny. And honestly I thought the premise wasn't him failing to get Penny, but opposites attract and love is process not some immediate think. Leonard had obstacles to getting with Penny but never failures before their first date. Howard is still a pervert, but a pervert in marriage, which actually gives him more to express pervyness, while also having the bonus of how the person he loves reacts to that. Raj has grown for the better, but his social awkwardness is still reflected in that he is a relationship that he doesn't really want to be in, but is too scared of never finding someone. But like you said, to each their own, but I can see those core concepts just now they're based on their growth as characters over ten seasons. Also, a lot of people hating simply comes down to series fatigue. Every long running show suffers from it depending on the veiwer. For me, Simpsons and Family Guy I find funny on occasion, but if they both went off the air tomorrow, I couldn't care less.
You do bring up a good point. HIMYM was one of those shows with a premise that was never gonna work. It only lasted because of NPH. That's like it. This weeks episode was sooooo much better. It actually was funny. Sheldon was still a dick but i at least could laugh at it. The best part was when Spoiler Sheldon cucked Leonard in his dream.
