Shapeways just sent me the first prints of 5mm weapons I rendered for the first wave of G1 Autobot Combiners.

Unfortunately, Prowl is the only figure from that wave that I have on hand, so the rest of the guns will have to be modeled by their Stunticon counterparts.

Thanks for the compliments! Here's the Ironhide gun. It's obviously based on the cannon that came with the G1 toy, but I took some liberties to add a "scope." It's a little hard to see here because of the lighting, but the scope is supposed to look like the "head" of the original figure.

And finally, Sunstreaker.

Yep...that's supposed to look like he's whole G1 arm...modified into a rocket-launcher. I think Sunstreaker might have been really fond of that arm.

are you planning on doing anyone else's guns?

 

Did you have anything specifically in mind?

I already did guns for the four original Stunticons, Voyager Cyclonus, and pretty much every contemporary Legends-scale figure. I'm tweaking a gun for Hound, but I'm still waiting for inspiration on Wheeljack and Trailbreaker. I assume Smokescreen can just borrow Prowl's gun.

Cool beans! I also have a Cyclonus pistol based on the G1 cartoon for a deluxe-scale figure.

 

First of all, these look amazing. Secondly, do you have plans for/is there any chance of a shoulder rocket for Mirage? I love the character but the figure is just so simple and basic that I feel he desperately needs something else on his person to make him stand out a bit.

I wasn't planning on making one, but I could definitely put together the main piece. I'm not quite sure how it would interface with the figure, though. If you'd be willing to put up with a little trial and error, I could render the cannon and a couple of different sized pieces to fit in the hollow space next to his head.

Wow, it sure does and yeah I can totally see the possibility for that space. A hooked tab looks like it would hold fairly well.

 

Alternatively, I wonder if I could make something that would wrap around the right shoulder. There's a 5mm port on the outside of the arm. It might obstruct arm movement, though.

 

quick question, the sunstreaker gun, is a hollowed-out-arm-cover version gonna be available?

 

I could do that if you want one. I'm assuming you would just want the front half (from where his elbow joint would be, not the shoulder cap on the back end.)
