I'm legit amazed at this thing. Ironhide is a hard one to do properly since his robot mode has almost no extraneous kibble on the show (because season 1 hated kibble), so I'm surprised they got such a slim robot mode out of that chunky vehicle. Will grab him and the inevitable Ratchet retool.

 

Hasbro has next to nothing to do with Masterpiece other than repackaging years old releases in giant boxes for a huge markup. FunPub, SDCC, no Masterpieces in sight despite being the premier TF line and those companies charging already huge price tags.

Logic dictates don't expect an MP Glyph from Hasbro anytime soon. Who knows if you will even see Bumblebee, although based on what happened to the horns I would assume they want to get him out. But no sign and he's already a year old.

 

Hasbro knows it takes a risk by releasing toys above a certain price limit, so that's why US MP releases are very few and far between and are of characters they know are more likely to sell. Still, it's possible they'd do someone very popular like Ironhide in the US, though they'd probably take out his weapons sled to cut down on costs.

 

Can't wait for this. I don't mind the hip kibble either. Would it be better if it was not there? Sure. Is it realistic? Apparently not. Will it detract heavily from my enjoyment of the figure? Very unlikely. Bring on the pre-orders!

 

My same thoughts. I can see the limitations of the engineering, those panels had to go somewhere and due to their placement with regards to all the other parts, they sit on his hips. My world will be just fine with this Ironhide in it.

 

At this point, assuming the QC is good on the 3rd party MP Ironhide, I will be passing on Takara's. Only way i'd go with Takara is if the following is done:

1) face is resculped
2) sideflaps are made to moved to the back to cover the butt

 

I don't know how making the sidewalks move to the butt would even work given it looks like that's where the tires fold up at >___>

 

There's zero risk. When priced fairly, Masterpieces are guaranteed sell outs, and they even sell out when sold at ridiculous prices. We're talking true Masterpieces here, not things like "Acid Storm." Those are Hasbropieces.

 

I mean TRU exclusives, as you mentioned above. Those are a risk for Hasbro because they are sold at one retail chain. They have to be more choosy about who they release in those instances.

 

She's a Botcon character, and I just can't see Hasbro taking a risk on her since she isn't even close to being a main character.


Like I said, TakTom may make her, especially if they're looking to make all of the Bumblebee repaints, but since she's a U.S exclusive character, she probably won't be first choice on their agenda.

Then again, there's G2 Sideswipe to consider, so I suppose anything is possible.

 

December still the release time frame?

 

If anything, I envision Bumper (retooled head) and Bug Bite (repaint), because Red Bumblebee is a clear sign they plan to milk the BB mold dry.

 

Given how the original Bumper was an entirely different mold which turned into a chibi Mazda Familia, I wouldn't put money on that. But Bug Bite and Glyph I expect, especially if they do a Tap-Out from the inevitable Cliffjumper. Maybe then they could do the Optimus/Malignus dudes from the Brazilian G1 line (Carrera from Cliffjumper, Sedan from Bumper, Volks from Bumblebee, Camaro from Windcharger, Jipe from Brawn and Pick-Up from Gears)?

 

If they ever do MP Cliffjumper, by all that is holy I want Bumblejumper and Cliffbee.

 

For Ironhide? If that's who you're talking about, there's no official word on his release date if that's who you're referring to. December was just speculation - a lot of us fans, including me, assumed we'd be getting him before year's end. More than two months after his reveal and still no preorders, though, I'm guessing he won't arrive till early '16.

 

I wouldn't look for him until very late 2015 or early-to-mid 2016, and I expect the Ratchet retool in the same year. We don't know what 2016's MP lineup will have yet, so it's anyone's guess as to when Ironhide will be out.

What kinda mileage can they get out of this mold I wonder? But will it really matter beyond the two enormous holes its going to fill? I'm clueless to most of the diaclone schemes, but there's always the nemesis scheme... Works on anything...

 

Yes I was referring about ironhide. Well here's hoping for his early arrival. If it's the case December will be a busy month for a haul.

Not a nemesis scheme or anything - just Diaclone Ironhide.

 

The way things have been, black Ironhide will be a mainline release and will probably be a nemesis/decepticon.
