Johan Treble, AKA Maestro

Music

Johan was once an aspiring musician, but was unable to break into the music industry due to completely lacking any talent. Through a series of unfortunate events, Johan came into possession of the 'Pick of Duplicity', a guitar pick able to mimic instruments and the sounds they make. Now he works as SJK's music teacher, where he has fooled the children into thinking that he is a virtuoso. Still planning his big comeback tour and getting his sweet revenge on the record executives that turned him away. In his off hours, Johan is the frontman for the town band, 'Johan and the Treblemakers'. Caesar plays keyboard, Roxy provides backup vocals and plays the tambourine, Rufus plays bass, and Dale is the drummer. He's not very good.

Cardigan Kennedy, aka Major Midas (retired)

The world's first superhero and former leader of the Freedom Force. Cardigan was the end result of a government program that sought to create a super soldier. While he was being administered the super soldier serum, the facility was struck by lightning, turning Cardigan into Major Midas (Dale spilling hot chocolate on the machine certainly didn't help). Marc Animus later built him a solar-powered rocket launcher during one his famous alcoholic episodes - everyone is still trying to figure out how that even works. Especially Bill Watergate.

Cardigan has since married a former Miss America and settled down into family life, but he was never prepared for what that actually meant. Now a stay-at-home father, he spends most of his time being yelled at by the family bread-winner, his supermodel/actress/singer wife, since none of his superpowers serve any practical use in a domestic setting. He is often caught trying to fit into his old costume, whereupon he is promptly berated for the dishes not having been done.
Cardigan secretly uses his superpowers to boost his son's popularity at school, since his son has not inherited any of his abilities. Cardigan also has a 30/60 share in 'Miss America's Major Meals' family restaurant franchise ("We've got the Midas touch!") - the 60 belonging to his wife.

 

I love this take on the Captain America.

His story sounds hilarious and kind of depressing.

 

Whoa, he looks cool. His backstory is very well done.

But what exactly is his ability? Is he made of gold, does he turn people into gold?

 

Cardigan is an Olympic-level athlete, having super strength, speed, and endurance. He is also extremely resilient and resistant to damage, his epidermis having been transformed into gold during the application of the super soldier serum.

...though these seem to change depending on who you ask.

 

Here's a revised, 'back of the book' synopsis of sorts:

Once the most notorious and feared supervillain in the world, Professor Dastardly is now reportedly reformed and released from prison under special pardon. With this second chance at becoming a productive member of society, The Professor has accepted a teaching position at the newly-built Stephen J. Kurtzberg Preparatory School for Special Youth. At SJK, he will serve as the homeroom teacher for the children of his former rivals, the now-disbanded Freedom Force - a group of meddlesome do-gooders led by his one-time archenemy, Major Midas. These super-powered parents are not at all convinced of The Professor's reformation, and are obsessed with exposing his ulterior, evil plot in order to oust him from the school - coincidentally, this is also the most popular topic of discussion at the school's weekly PTA meetings.

Unfortunately for Professor Dastardly, the rest of the faculty and staff at SJK are in fact employees of Evil, Inc., originally a small-town crime ring that has since developed into a global syndicate during The Professor's long incarceration. SJK serves as the underground base of operations for Ink's (E-Inc) nefarious deeds - cleverly hidden right where everyone would least expect them to be.

As the school's inaugural Open House draws near, The Professor considers: was he brought to SJK to serve as Ink's obvious scapegoat, or as its premier consultant?
