Well I think the fact that there are plenty of sightings of him in the sightings forum means otherwise. Hell I live in Florida where the distribution for literally everything is awful since we're the last ones to get anything, and I saw two or three Devy's each at a few of my TRUs.

I won't lie, I kinda dig this toy in these colors. I don't really have the space but if I saw him on sale for like $40 I'd probably pick him up.

Welp it looks like my local retailers will be shelf warming this green turd for the next year. Funny how Hasbro officially revealed this the same day its out.

You're in luck - the AoE version showed up at Ross for $40. So just wait and it's yours for $40! :lol
Thanks! Neat to see them together... cause the odds of finding a collector who owns both is extremely low! :lol
I don't think kids buy TFs at all. I RARELY see kids go to the TF section. RARELY. And the RID toys don't seem to move, either. Is Hasbro just content on selling a few dozen because they're cheap to make? Wouldn't CW toys sell better, if say, they made another Titan? I mean, Devy sold right out of most TRUs, so I don't get why they wouldn't make more of those, rather than clog shelves with old gum like this.  I guess this is why the execs make the big bucks? Cause they know what sells? :)

Ive notice that the Tf shelfs were pretty stale once they started doing the simple 5 step crap in the mainline toys. In most cases they were the only things on the shelfs.

You're missing the bigger picture: (look below)
While toys aimed exclusively for kids is not unusual, TF profits are dropping like a TF fan's social skills when mired in such discussion. I wouldn't care if this type of toy sold well (or care as much?); it's when they make it AND it doesn't sell AND it prevents better products from being made that I get irritated by the incompetent leadership at Hasbro. This toy did badly; why not wait a few more months before recoloring it and removing features? It's not even Xmas, so it's not like there's demand for this overpriced monstrosity.  The good news is that Hasbro is large enough to lose this money and not blink an eye; bad news is the TF brand slips ever further down the rabbit hole of oblivion! :lol  People seriously want Devy when they go to stores, and TRU got away with TWO price hikes and still sold out. This thing officially c*ck blocks Devy on shelves.

I wonder if the RID version has the rider-activated electronic gimmick removed since it doesn't have a figure included, and the RID toyline doesn't have the metal tabs in the feet.

I almost bought AOE stomp & chomp for $30 at K-Mart for my son.

Retailers don't mark product below what they pay for items unless the distributor goes out of business or authorizes a discount match that will come off future invoices.

Like the $50 mega bumblebee, this toy is a waste of money. Buyers at the major retailers are always suckered in by big margin items. Selling one of these can make the same profit as selling three smaller figures.

Hasbro also likes the big margin products. Why spend the money making quality toys if you can sell a hollow non transforming figure that cost you $1 to make for $10.

As much as I love the rare positive attitude in this thread, I should point out that RID is not intended for 2-6 years old, more like 5-10. Either way I'm sure kids who get this figure will enjoy it.

I do think it's funny that because a toy is put on clearance that means no one wants it. So by that logic we classics/generations/universe figures should not have come back because I saw each and everyone of those on clearance at some point.

Kids don't need 800 steps to transform a figure or have 300 points of articulation, that's what collectors want and they're expressing their expectations as the expectations of all. The reason kids don't need all those thing is they have imagination, which is something adults are severely lacking. My son plays with deluxe RID figures along side, 3 step changers, one step changers, tiny titans, legends and minicons and for those mini-cons I don't have, well he drew pictures of them and they play right along with them.

What? You mean that Hasbro's sudden opinion that Transformers need to be over-simplified pieces of junk is wrong?

What went so wrong over at Hasbro HQ that they decided that they need 5 versions of the same character with transformation schemes ranger from very simple to non-existent? I remember when characters had 2 versions; the main version and one simple version e.g. deluxe/legends and voyager/deluxe.
