The hands and the head look awkward, the rest is ok.

This thing has all the markings of a trainwreck. The plastic looks super knockoffy, and the face is probably the worst third party sculpt I've ever seen. I mean, it's just so terrible. The price has got to be a joke.

Will anyone on this board actually admit it when they buy this?

I'm surprised to see movement on this. This was in development the same time Kronos was. Been a loooong time.

I really like the alt mode. It's very strong and very animation accurate.

It's hard to like the bot mode because I never liked the look of cartoon Skyfire. Jetfire was cool, but Skyfire always looked oddly proportioned, and kinda icky. In that regard I guess this bot mode looks pretty accurate.

This looks like an aborted Trans-fetus.

J/K, LOL. Not actually as bad as people are saying.

I just can't even believe retailers are agreeing to carry the thing. I mean WTF? It feels like we're taking a step in the wrong direction

i like how, for the first time in recent memory mind you, that we as a fandom can all come together...put aside our collections and personal likes....and we can all agree...as one...that this thing is a piece of shit....

That is one good thing to come of this product. To those who get it, I hope it is everything you wish for it to be. For me, I'll be staying far, far away.

With a new face and 70% off that insane price, I'd buy it.

The reply, I believe stems from the price, being that this is currently priced at which DacaToys Kronos was at. So, he had to compare the features of Guardian with that of Kronos.

Personally, they should fix that face.

If they used a completely new design, higher quality materials, gave it a massive price cut, and put it in a FT box, I'd consider looking at it again with slightly less utter disdain.

I don't think this figure is an epic fail...but that price is.

We don't know anything about actual quality. White plastic will always look cheap in pictures.

This is indeed a sad case.

To see them fall flat on their face, regarding the face sculpt.
Who am I to say anything about face sculpting ? Hmmm I might,
I just might know a little thing or two about it ( shameless plug
of my own stuff ) :

I really wanted Mecha Form to nail this, but indeed it's just sad to see
them fail it and seeing the backlash about it here and on their FB page.

Indeed, a good face is what sells something in this world.
Because the following photoshop pic is the same Skyguardian with Hasbro Skyfire's head
( the Hasbro head should fit the scale because Skyguardian is only 25 cm tall ) :

Personally, I think that looks good. Alike this :

The G1 cartoon model has always been something, open to a lot of interpretation.
Mostly, because it was something that was never actually engineered as a toy before.
The animators couldn't work off Jetfire the toy engineering.

So they came up with the animation model, with parts massshifting and scaling all over the place.
Even Kronos is still a partsformer. Skyguardian is the first one to do a perfect transformation
and I think I figured it out - and imo, it looks pretty clever :

The arms don't sit next to each other in jet mode, like the classic Macross Valkyrie transformation scheme has them. Instead, the arms line up underneath the jet the left arm behind the right arm, in order to nail the jet proportions.

So yeah, Mecha Form will NEED to do something about that face sculpt before it ships to retailers AND something
has to be done about that price. I feel sad to start having doubts about this because I really wished them success.

Interesting. not perfect but interesting. Leaps and bounds better than Kronos (witch is a pile of garbage btw). I do have to comment that the head sculpt on this one is horrible and a bit of a deal breaker. Now if they could take some inspiration form the HasTak leader Jetfire, that would be a different story. That head sculpt is perfect. Also, all the exposed bolts are a bit of an eyesore. Hopefully, they read this and take it as constructive criticism.

As for the price... just way too high for this scale and construction. Maybe at the $99 USD mark bot defiantly not for $170 USD. As such, this is a pass...

See that looks real good. The only real problem is the head. An upgrade kit should do.

I don't get what the purpose of this figure is. What does this figure provide that the officially licensed Hasbro Combiner Wars Leader Jetfire does not? What "hole" does it fill? Sorry guys, its just that I personally am tired of seeing these IP infringement (aka 3rd party unlicensed), illegal, un-safe (doesn't mean accepted toy testing safety standards), expensive pieces of garbage (uncertified QC/QA). I am of the opinion when people spend money on these IP infringement toys, it reduces the probability of Hasbro/Takara developing official toys for the Masterpiece and Classics/Generations/CombinerWars toy lines (collector lines).

"3rd party unlicensed" use to just mean an accessory that filled a "hole", not 100% blatant IP infringement.
