Game looks great but 5 playable characters brings it down in my books, hope it has a lot of levels otherwise I'll probably burn through this game :/

Most games only have 1 playable character. This is a character action game, with each character having a different move set, and play style. This won't be like the High Moon games where almost each character plays the exact same.

I always had d Ironhide, redneck that finally got any he deserved. Bumblebee is a bitch, always was always will bee. One of the most dislikeable characters in the whole franchise.

Also shame this game sucks, cause it looks really good. Itbshiuod have been a real tf game instead of bayonetta with 5 Autobots. The 5 Autobots is a real slap in the face. As much as I like tf it makes me want this game to fail hard. I'm a g1 guy at that.

I really like how they are adapting the G1 art look into the game. I'm really looking forward to playing it.

They could have given him wrestling moves and had him play something like Zangief from the Streetfighter series:cool:

I wouldn't say he's invincible, but he was definitely strong guy-type character with all sorts things at his disposal. Iron Hide's liquid Nitrogen gun could have been pretty fun against the endless Decepticon army players are put up against. Imagine being able to shatter them with a punch or kick after blasting with them with his liquid nitrogen gun after filling up his combo meter.

It's weird how people are already asking for DLC for 'longevity' or whatever even though we have no idea just how long this game really is. I feel like people are only expecting it to be short because the Highmoon games were short. With the mention that they have around thirty Decepticon characters acting as bossess, I imagine there'll be plenty of gameplay ahead.

Transformers as a franchise is built around tens if not hundreds of distinctive and unique characters, hence why limiting playable characters to just Autobots, only having 5 of them and only picking those with ground based alt modes was pretty stupid, hence why people already want DLC, lovely though the game looks, there's just not enough variety in the character choices.

Also, that 'thirty' Decepticon character bosses could be rather cynical, I mean, Devastator is 6 Decepticons, and if Menasors in as a boss that's another 5, a Soundwave boss would perhaps be 4 (Soundwave, Rumble, Ravage, Laserbeak) - again, variety quickly becomes a lot smaller than it initially seems.

While more characters would have been nice, the way Platinum games tend to play out wouldn't really work well with a ton of characters in my opinion.

They make highly linear, repetitive games that are all about mastering combos and insane, over the top boss battles with highly stylized combat. The replay value and variety stem purely from different difficulties, New Game Plus, collecting all the unlockables, and unlocking and mastering combos.

Even five characters is a huge amount for that kind of game, and more would just mean running through the same stages again and again with slightly different characters with slightly different movesets. With five, they can polish and balance them to hopefully feel at least distinctive enough to make playthroughs with each of them feel worthwhile.

I love Platinum's games - especially Bayonetta, which this seems very reminiscent of mechanically - but they scratch a particular itch that won't be for everyone. This isn't going to be some narrative magnum opus or open world, highly explorable adventure game. It'll be a brawler with highly stylized combat, and epic boss battles. Little more.

(Just popping in to offer my usual periodic expectations adjustment for people who may not be familiar with Platinum's games.)

Well, for Starscream, I guess they could use Sam Riegel from the High Moon games. In my opinion, that was faithful enough to the original Starscream. It was certainly better than this: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=X1EUB6zcuaE

Lol the game is even telling him at like 10 separate times to finish his goddamn combos with the special attack button and the guy just wails on X the whole time. Even after he figures out dodging he still doesn't use it when the enemy's are winding up for attacks.

How can you be this bad at games?

That footage just makes me want the game more. I can really sense the "feel" of the timing from that video, and it's very Bayonetta-like. They make such awesome brawler mechanics.

Not sure if this was posted already:

PlatinumGames’ Transformers: Devastation Will Run at 60 FPS on All Consoles, 1080p on PS4/Xbox One

Transformers: Devastation is a game by PlatinumGames, and on top of that, it’s directed by Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance’s Kenji Saito. This means that fast, unrelenting action is one of the game’s main selling points.

In order to support that kind of action, 60 frames per second are almost a must, and Producer Robert Conkey himself confirmed at Gamescom that the game will run at 60 FPS on all consoles (even if he admitted that there might be some dips on PS3 and Xbox 360 in very chaotic scenes, but that’s entirely understandable, while on PS4 and Xbox One the frame rate will be stable).

Resolution-wise, we’ll get 1080p on PS4 and Xbox One, and 720p on PS3 and Xbox 360. Of course PC gamers will get whatever their rig can handle.

We also learned a few more details from Conkey and Saito-san himself:
•Activision was the one that went to PlatinumGames with the idea of the game, and discovered that the folks at the house of Bayonetta were big Transformers fans.
•The game is not developed by the same team as The Legend of Korra, as PlatinumGames mixes and matches teams for different games. Some developers come from Korra (for instance the producer), others from Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance and from other games.
•At the end of every combo you can trigger a transformation attack, with the right timing. After that, you can chain a fully new combo.
•Loot changes depending on difficulty. You have a chance to get better loot the more challenging you choose the game to be.
•Taking the visuals directly from the shows would have caused the graphics to look pretty dated, so the team used modern animation techniques like glow shading applied to the entire world.
•Animations have been referenced heavily from the old shows, but they have been mixed with PlatinumGames style and responsiveness.
•Transformations are a mix of the shows, in which the Transformers “morph,” and of the toys, in which parts are mechanically moved into place.

If you’re wondering, I also got a chance to try the game on PS4, and boy, it was really, really fun. This is definitely a title to watch.

I feel like it's going to be real short though.
