Did you just chastise him for wanting better designed figures?
    What's wrong with that?

I can't say this is the Dev's I've wanted since the 80's: mine has all 6 figures the same size, and with no pissy little pivots just above the wrists or material thin flat arms that flap sideways. Congratulations if that's exactly what you wanted.

I kind of feel like Hasbro's QC took a nosedive after RotF/HftD toys came out. I remember having to return nearly every single DotM toy I bought for some kind of QC issue. There were a lot of stories from the Generations line that year too. It seemed to get better with the more recent Generations stuff, but now, I'm not so sure.

Didn't they move all of their production to Vietnam a few years back? Maybe there isn't as much quality control there as there was in the Chinese factories? Just pure speculation on my part.

This IS the Devastator I have wanted since the 1980's. :)
-I didn't over pay for a bunch of overhyped junk that looks horrible combined into Green Giant or Hercules or whatever those atrocities are called.
-$100+ for EACH figure and the only mode they look good in is MAYBE their vehicle modes..NO THANKS.
-Sure they are a bit more solid then Hasbro/Takara's OFFICIAL Devastator, but official is official and if you paid attention and read the designer interviews you would know one important fact. The fact is they were trying to stick as close to those tiny G1 Constructicons as possible. They did an excellent job at that. Could it use more paint? Maybe a tiny bit but that's easily fixed.
-Devastator is an impressive figure that towers over the 3P junk..even that KO "Predaking" isn't nearly as tall.
Some of y'all complain and say "Hasbro's Devy is overpriced".
Look at your barely transformable piles of junk. After paying $500-$600 for the whole set y'all still have to buy the upgrade kits which cost anywhere from what $65-$150? Hahaha BUT I DIGRESS.. Y'all have a good day. :)

Guess what? The plastic quality of this set is crap that there is a picture (floating around) of Mixmaster chest having a 'tear' from tilting the ankle. I think I'm canceling my pre-order on the TakaraTomy version.

HasTak had this 'brilliant' idea to supersize this combiner until without taking into consideration the tolerance of the plastic with all that mass! LOL!

On a side-note, its extremely perplexing how some folks these days get critized for wanting better designed toys, yes?

Turbo jack: you missed the point of 3P offerings - they exist to 'fill' the gap left (based on individual preference) by Hasbro.

If you feel that HasTak has met your satisfaction in terms of a figure, then by all means stick with them. After all, price is often an important factor...after all, products like Feral Rex (not Predaking) can be expensive.

The purpose of 3P add-ons allow the collector to customised or improve a 3P or a HasTak product. For example, a 3P produced an add-on kit for HasTak FOC Bruticus...making it less of an eye-sore to some of us. But hey, if you like him the way he is - more power to you! :)

:(  this thread is a bummer. I hope everyone who has issues gets them fixed with little effort. I haven't bought mine yet, so fingers crossed I'm a fortunate buyer.

I will say, I do feel Hasbro's quality control has improved. We're no where near the days of 2011-2012 with the Fall Of Cybertron line and some of Prime. We're also no where near what 2010 was (which was gooood). We're in the middle ground.

Sorry for your issues guys :(

Every so often I actually ponder the Takara Unite Devastator.
I think this thread seals it for me.

Seriously! WTH is up with that?
But we're in a Golden Age. Yeah. Whatever.

i never liked this toy. not that i have it though. It is just too big. If they made it the same size as the other CW Combiners, I would've been all over it. But now to get a proper sized Devestator I have to get the maketoys one

Mine actually came without any problems, but I was kind of disappointed. He looks good from a distance, but the figures kind of felt like scaled-up KO G1 figures. I was expecting six figures of deluxe/voyager quality but they are definitely not at that level.

It's not a bad figure but definitely not the quality one would expect for $150. It should have been priced at $90 max.

    9. The arms being so dinky on some of them take a point away, and what would have been MORE points are all made up for by the fantastic molds otherwise, and the brilliant work that is the combined mode. Naysayers can suck it, this is a great item.

I will say about 8 or 9 too. Very impressive. Though I understand folks problems with Long Haul's arms.

In case, anyone is thinking that I'm 'making-up' the issue of Mixmaster's chest plastic tearing...check out the picture below:

Hopefully its a one-off thing but from the picture the tear is really bad - it starts from the top and actually reaches to the front.

The quality of the plastic is questionable and let's not forget this is meant to be 'main line' stuff as in meant to be played and it should be durable, not fragile. And to think I ALMOST bought this for my kids to mess and trash! At the way, kids handle this figure Devastator will be DEVASTATED! Ha! Always wanted to say/post that! X)

Yeah, I realize the hostility is increasing towards 3P offerings. For me, if one don't like the product (be it 3P or HasTak), one should be objective like point out its flaws. Or if one don't like the aesthetics, then state it as such. Personal attacks should be avoided but I guess for some folks...old habits die hard.

Likewise for me, I wanted it to be similar in size with the other combiners. I think even Hasbro was queried over this. Now its neither here nor there for me.

If its meant to be G1 then its too big compared to Menasor and the soon-to-be-released Bruticus.

If its meant to be the IDW version (stopped following the comics), they should have used Prowl or made him a limb.

I may still pick him but I only as a display piece and I need to find out more as to how the break occurred.

Yeah, I handled the figure and while the size and design looks good, I concur with you - the figures felt like KO quality. I think, I will cancel my pre-order and wait for the opportunity to see it in person before finally deciding, Maybe, the TT's paint apps will blow me away? X)

Here's a suggestion for everyone - this thread should solely be used for posting flaws or issues with the set.

For those that want to praise it for its positive points...maybe one can post it in the "Appreciation Thread'. This would keep both threads 'clean'?

I know I complain on this site a lot, but I think it does deserve a word of caution.

Devastator looks great on a shelf, it is really fun to play with, I do recommend him if you love the character... I think there are a few quality concerns though. I think Hasbro really cut it as close as they could with quality to get it at the price point they wanted.

The plastics used are just so so, and some of the paint apps in terms of QC aren't the greatest either.

I think there is 2 schools of though you can go buy. 1: The quality isn't great just invest the least amount of dollars in him, don't over pay. -- OR -- 2: Hope Takara uses some high quality plastic, and all the QC issues are accounted for, it will be worth it.

I think Takara does use different plastic from time to time, like how Hasbro Jazz Vs Takara Jazz has different whites. Takara's usually being the more dense and brighter white.

My #1 problem with Devastator is still its size. Would have been close to perfect for me if they made him closer to the other combiners. But nope. They just had to make him a special oversized snowflake. The Takara version fixed most of my other problems with it.

i mean i like to bag on hasbro and call it cheap crap as much as the next guy... but that picture looks like forced damage in my opinion

maybe I'm not looking at it correctly, but if that was a structural failure i don't think thats how a tear would present. or look

    just my opinion

Hmmm, that could be a possibility but maybe it could be a design flaw? Maybe the designers could make it such a way that the joints 'pop-out' if they're forced into a certain direction? I must stress that I'm not an 'engineer' by profession! LOL!

What was everyone expecting? This is a combiner wars figure. All of the combiner wars figures have simplistic transformations. Have hollow parts.

I don't understand the dismay. This is not an MP Devistator. It is a combiner wars devistator and should be treated as such.

If you expected MP quality, and MP design you are wearing rose tinted glasses and need to look elsewhere.

This is hasbros Titan if the year. Meant for kids. Simple transformation. Meant to fit in with the CW line.

If you expected any different you are woefully mistaken and you're own misguided expectations are to blame.

I just took mine and tried to stress it to see if it looks scary...not mine. looks fine. could be a bad spot in the plastic. hasbro will replace it.

I rate devs a 9.5 for being so str8 up G1 fanwak in a kick ass great playing toy package.
