Mission: Impossible: Rogue Nation - 9/10

Very much enjoyed this installment. Ghost Protocol might just be a little bit better, but it doesn't matter, really. I think there's no bad film in the series.

I'll probably still love his worst movie.

The Man Who Knew Too Much - I like the remake better, A LOT better. That doesn't make this a bad movie by any means, as I did enjoy it, but I can definitely see why Hitchcock remade it. It is just sloppy at times and the plot moves way too quickly. There just isn't enough time given to the family to make you care for them. Also, the opera scene is too short. Overall, I give it a 7/10, but it is one of the weakest Hitchcock movies I've seen so far.

Foreign Correspondent - Not as amazing as I was told, but still a great movie overall. It had some really fantastic moments to it, but the romance between Jones and the daughter was just way too forced. There is no way they could just instantly fall in love with each other just like that. The last little bit was shocking though as I never saw that coming. Still not anywhere near his best works, but certainly superior to The Man Who Knew Too Much. I also give this movie a 7/10.

Pretty sure The Terminator did that way back in 1984, but it's nice to know it can still be done

That's quite a bold statement, be interesting to see if it lives up to that praise.

    Mission Impossible
    6.5/10

Lacking the blow-em-up action of a usual blockbuster, instead the movie's plot winds in on itself in a game of Gambit Pileup centered around a vague MacGuffin. Tom Cruise gives himself an action franchise as a means to become the next James Bond and in doing so kills off the characters from the original show and turns the team leader into the villain. Nonetheless, it's still an entertaining film.

    Mission Impossible 2
    7/10
This movie gets such a stupidly bad rap online. If anything, it is the most thoroughly entertaining of the movies, with some of the best action sequences on display. Director John Woo also throws in flocks of doves for no apparent reason, but they're always welcome in my book. Interestingly, the movie starts off like a thriller similar to the first film and about an hour in the shootouts start.

    Mission Impossible 3
    5.5/10
What a waste. Philip Seymour Hoffman is wasted in particular, playing a villain with no actual character to him who lacks any real intimidating factors. The action sequences are aggravating to watch, as JJ Abrams cannot keep the camera still, rattling it around like an old man who has Parkinsons. At least John Woo can shoot an action sequence without doing that sort of nonsense.

I haven't seen Ghost Protocol as of yet.

    Mission Impossible: Rogue Nation
    6/10
It starts off promising, but quickly falls into a bit of a meandering mess that drags on longer than it needs to, with action sequences that are often over far too soon to leave any real impression. The villain seemingly assassinates political figures for fun, his motivations are that vague. And he somehow just hires all these presumed-dead spec ops agents who are apparently more than willing to go along with his vague plans of sowing chaos the world over (is everyone in black ops groups this homicidal?) The whole idea of an 'Anti-IMF' could have been utilized a hell of a lot better.

here's your proof Tom Cruise DOES have a stunt double, and hasn't ALWAYS done his own stunts... he has stepped up his game in the recent years to doing most of his stunts, but he still has a stunt double.

I recommend using a good hot sauce for crow, btw. ;)

I will not be eating any crow. I was wrong about Tom using a stunt double, but that doesn't make Kain right. His entire thing hinged on "HE TELL ME", you actually provided proof. A BIG difference.

So yes, I was wrong about Tom Cruise doing *all* of his own stunts, but he definitely does most of them. Probably all of them, now. Pull up the plane stunt for Rogue Nation on YouTube, you'll see it's him strapped onto the side of it, not a double.

I was wrong, it happens more often than not. *shrugs*

^^hey hey, I wasn't defending Kain, he gets more eyerolls from me than anyone else... I was just being a smartass due to you trying to defame someone in a pretty harsh way - while being wrong.

personally I enjoy your reviews and insight more than the negative Kain - catches my interest more.

and yeah, Cruise does most of his stunts these days, but only the stunts you are "Shown" he is doing, so he is a badass in that regard... but the stunts that you aren't having shoved in your face from tv and extras, most likely it's his double... Cruise is fickly that way, either he gets credit, or nobody does... I think that was the misunderstanding about him "Claiming" stunts as his own even if he doesn't do them - he just doesn't want the 9 stunts he didn't do to outweigh the 1 he just completed for face-time.

The Cabin in the Woods - 9/10. So good it took the horror genre for a loop, the only problem I had was near the ending felt surreal but in a good way. The lead female was good & pretty which I like so i was rooting for her the whole time and the stoner was funny. Recommended.

39 Steps - I'm really sure it is fair to give this one a score right now because I watched it even though I am quite tired and was not really in the mood for a movie. Nevertheless, I did enjoy it, just not as much as I hoped because my attention was elsewhere. I can definitely see how this movie would go on to influence Hitchcock's story for North by Northwest and the acting was great. The escape scene in the fog halfway through the movie was absolutely breath taking. The characters were good and it was nice to not see some suddenly romance break out. Right now though, I'm giving it a 7/10.

Hey, I haven't said anything truly negative about a movie in a while, at least that I have put on here. I never bothered to type my reviews for the movies I do video reviews on, so the last bad movie I watched was King Kong Lives. Ewwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwww.

Before that it was... I don't remember. Most of the movie I have been watching as of late have been Film Noirs and Hitchcock, and none of them have been even close to being bad. Even my least favorite Film Noir has had a lot of atmosphere and moments in it that makes it enjoyable.

    Bajrangi Bhaijaan - 8.5

    https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bajrangi_Bhaijaan

Bollywood movie my exGF wanted to see. Was a little hesitant about it (I prefer action or historical Indian movies), but was pleasantly surprised at how much I enjoyed it. Basically, the story is about a mute Pakistani girl named Shahida who gets separated from her mother while in India. The main character, Pawan, who's Hindu (a devotee of Hanuman), crosses paths with the girl and lets her tag along with him on his trip back to Delhi, where he lives with his girlfriend.

They decide to name her "Munni" and everyone seems to think she's a Hindu girl, but little by little, people start to realize she not an average Indian kid. All the clues come together when, after watching a Cricket match where India loses to Pakistan, she claps profusely, goes up to the TV, and kisses the Paki flag that takes up most of the screen. Pawan then has to try and get her back across the border, having no idea what her real name is, or the location of her home town while evading the Pakistani police.

The overall message of the movie is that, while there is prejudice and distrust among people of both countries, good will and honesty can prevail if people really, truly want peace. I was entertained, and yeah, there are times the movie succeeds in garnering an emotional response from the viewer. The actors are great, but the one cast member who absolutely steals the show is the little girl who plays Shahida/Munni. Just the cutest kid I've ever seen, and does an amazing job of conveying emotions without saying a word for 99% of the entire movie. I believed this was a little lost girl from Pakistan the entire time I was in the theater; what a talented kid.

So yeah, it was definitely worth seeing.

Got back from DBZRF about an hour or two ago. I liked it. The comedy was a little too execessive for my tastes. I did like the film though. Frieza was a cool villain, and the film helped explain the backstory without having a giant flashback in the beginning. The voice acting was phenomenal, as I expected from Funimation.
Overall, a 8/10. The voice acting really won me over, although the story is heavily cliched
