Only interested in this guy, Prowl and maybe Mirage from this batch of toys. This will not be Optimus in my collection, rather I will call the toy "Checkpoint".

Man, if this is getting this much heat as a repaint, things are bound to get worse. Battle Core Optimus is one of the figures I lack, but i'm thinking of getting it instead of the normal prime. I'm confused as to why they are making a normal prime figure for this line, and not a megatron figure, because while I like Cyclonus, having his combined form as Megatronus seems odd. If that's going to be the default leader for the Combiner Wars Decepticons, I think I'd rather have Battle Core Optimus over the standard one.

The reason it's weird to me is because while they are going insane on the repaints, with the entire set of four new ones coming out soon, Like IronHide, Prowl, SunStreaker and Mirage, that makes for so many repaints that my head is spinning. Those figures have already used the molds from the Stunticons, so if this is going to be the way the entire line goes, it makes for a giant headache.

Don't get me wrong, I'm buying them, but my issue with normal prime is if he doesn't get an official team of his own, And he won't be getting true Megs as a Combiner, I'd rather just leave my Prime collection at the Masterpiece, The Year of the Horse version and the original G2 prime with sound effects. I've got the Beast Wars version, and I've already got the feeling that its too many. At least the Battle Core version is different. It just feels odd that they are making so many of the Voyagers which don't have official teams per se.

It makes sense to have Superion, Menasor, but then Prime is out, Cyclonus, Scattershot is announced, so with so few Deluxes, it leaves a collector with a problem of having Voyagers which just don't really "belong". If the original Prime toy was going to go with the new set, Prowl, etc etc, then who's Battle Core's team? I know it sounds crazy, but I'd prefer if they kept the combiners as original teams, and only making new ones either whole cloth, or make sure that each Voyager figure has their own dedicated Team. Not in the mood to show Battle Core prime with spares from the other teams, Like Alpha Bravo, Offroad, Rook, you know, the figures that they seem to put out so you don't get an entire combiner team in one wave. That's the thing that really sucks for me at the moment. They announced that they are planning to sell "Sets" like a single box set of Superion, and Menasor, Why not just do that for all of them, I'd much rather buy them together than have to hunt them down at different stores.

Right now, the way that they are released, it heavily incentivizes people to do what we all see, which is to buy all the individual figures they can from whatever store they visit, then just re list them on either Amazon.com or Ebay, for several times the asking price. At least if they sold them as entire sets, it would be more expensive so those types of buyers would have less of a reason to spend so much to hog them all. It would at least limit the behavior in my mind. Seeing a 15 dollar figure on Ebay or Amazon for 60+ dollars is getting old fast. We've already got several repaints to worry about, it's only worse with those type of people doing it to profit from the collectors. The next wave figures are also going to be redone, in several different sets, like the G2 Superion and Menasor that I've already seen. There's Victorion, a six figure set, Bruticus which reuses figures like Alpha Bravo, and Hotspot for the set, so most of that is repaints, and the first few waves already has them, it's just going to be a case where every figure has 10 different variants of the same mold with different colors. I agree with most everyone here, the repaint thing is starting to look like the worst cash grab they've ever done. I love Transformers, to my core, as I've bought them since I was a little kid, from a local five and dime store during the eighties, so its hard to not be a bit angry that they aren't happy with selling me a few hundred dollars worth of different toys, instead, its going to run into the thousands, and mostly for the exact same mold, just reused over and over. That starts to hurt. In more ways that one.

 

That is the only reason I want this, it will be easier to repaint into Thunderclash.

The fact that they gave this a new head is like rubbing salt into the wound, guess I'll get this, and paint the head to give to the original CW Prime since the head on that one looks like crap.

He looks nothing like Nova Prime beyond the white and gold. The TFCC figure sadly did a better job at NP than this mold did.

 

Is it weird I'm going to get the limbs and neither CW Optimus prime? I have motormaster/menasor, and, despite looking pretty cool, he doesn't pose for shit. So I'm just going to take Ironhide, Sunstreaker, Prowl, and Wheeljack, and put them on Sky Reign. Then I'm gonna take Mirage, Bluestreak (or Smokescreen, can't remember which one he is), Hound, and Trailbreaker, and put them on Galvatronus. That way, I'll have an RID Combiner and a Lost Light Combiner.

 

Nova Prime, Leo Convoy, Prowl, Thunderclash, Ultra Magnus, I just can't buy this mold again. It's really awful.

 

This mold in White looks really like a KO. Especially the head.

I already own the first version as Prime, then the remold as Motormaster and I like both. But the White one....not a fan. Will still get it for the inevitable Thunderclash upgrade

 

Just buying all the limbs, no need for 3 versions of a garbage mold... I'll use the limbs either with Galvatronus.... or with the original CW prime... despite me not being a fan of his combined mode or robot mode... his alt mode.. not too bad.. but not worth buying again

I DO! And judging by everyone's reactions, i should be able to actually find this wave at a decent price, instead of having to pre-order and pay shipping online...
