Thanks for the coupon. Worked like a charm! For $128 I'm not even thinking about the Takara one. Especially since I'll be displaying him in combined form.

    Today's release-date, right?

I was out and about, and didn't see any CW-Devy at either Wally's or Tarjey today.

Is TRU the only one actually stocking CW-Devy on their shelves?

Because its in the generations line? Dont they update everyone in classics? The other constructicons alt modes are still the current versions. But mixmaster's case is different because most all rear chute trucks have been replaced by the one man front pour trucks

Yep. In the interview with Hasui he said Hasbro insisted that all the alt modes be contemporary. I guess they still make "conventional" cement mixers but my guess is most of the market for new equipment us front discharge.

Targets website had a release of 8-1, kmart 8-11, Walmart probably about the same time. Thing is even if those store were actually intending to carry it on the shelves instead of just online only, the way the stores have been stocking the tf section lately it might be a long wait till he is physically on a store a shelf other than TRUs.

I think someone (John Warden?) at Toy Fair said it was for vehicle scale. Which I think is a pretty stupid reason and they should have just left it as is. Updating it only made all three modes look worse. It doesn't even look that much like an actual front discharge vehicle because the cab is so cartoonishly big compared to the real things.

In Japan, maybe. Ever since Mixmastergate started, I've been on the lookout in my area (Los Angeles metro) for front load mixing trucks. Every single truck I've seen for the past year is an "old style" rear pouring truck. The only difference is the cabs are long nose instead of flat nose.

I think what likely happened is Hasbro said do the "modern" mixer for "scale," and Hasui tried to make it work both ways as best he could, hence the proportion issues.

It is pretty stupid though that he ends up being the only one that is really updated in any significant fashion. Typical Hasbro.

Actually, it does. I see them every day and the cabs are differently shaped than what people are used to. The driver sits in the center, which is a large compartment.

And the older cab, to be a 'proper' foot for Devastator, would be cartoonishly huge. Just see the new 3P version. It looks silly compared to the other vehicles.

Same here, and they're really big. The older models are smaller and out-dated.

I saw all the Devastator vehicles but the mining dumptruck IRL the other day, and they all scale well with each other. The older mixer truck would be out of scale, so I am perfectly happy with the updated Mixmaster.

That's the same in my area. You still see the occasional old style mixer truck but 99% of them are the front style.

Mine too. I haven't seen an old style truck in a lot of years, all I see is the new front mixers

In Dallas, I never see anything but the old, rear style like g1 mix. I've never even seen a front pour in person that I can recall.

Re: the figure, honestly in person I really don't care. I had a few gripes about this figure in pics, but in person he's pretty epic. I do wish the foot was old g1 style, and I wish hands were purple. But again it's not bad in person...more of a preference. The pics make his foot, especially, look terrible.

Other than that he looks really good as long as his arms are not in some weird upward pose. I am thinking about trying to match paint for wheels and add some silver on mix's foot to add a bit more detail, but overall he's a welcome addition to my shelf. I almost prefer him to Giant. Giant definitely looks better, but he's so small. And at 1/3 the price, it swings heavily in favor of CW. If I didn't have either, and had to pick one, I'd go with CW. Although, I am very glad I have both.

I've seen several front end mixers as of late and I'm seeing it's a real thing now, and it's still weird to me, but yeah...Mixmaster of yesteryear is pretty much gone now.

Front end mixers make a lot of sense, honestly.

However, seeing their size in reality, I'd imagine Devastator isn't nearly as big in reality as we would want him to be and this Titan Class set is a bit out of scale, honestly.

That's also what makes it ridiculously fun.

Even if you get the Takara version you will still have the ass end of the cement truck as the foot. I may spring for the add on that's coming out in September. I already got the arms for the individual bots pre ordered.

This is starting to make sense then. It sounds like the front pouring mixing trucks are all on the east coast, where Hasbro is. On the west coast (and having grown up in the midwest), the front pouring trucks are unheard of. It must be a regional thing.

Was able to get a perfect green match, with an easy to remember ratio. Super excited. Think I'll be painting his wheels and treads this weekend (already have purple match)
