Oh wow. This is so hard to believe! I remember watching him as a kid in the wwf. One of the best on the mic in wrestling. Sad.
It showed up on Hulu a few weeks ago. Oh so WONDERFULLY bad in that special 80's sci-fi way! And the one movie he wished no one would ever ask him about. --Moony
R.I.P Mr.Piper, Undertaker is the only one left still wrestling from that era. First Macho Man, after Ultimate Warrior, the first Women's tag team champs Fabulous Mula and Mae Young, Dusty Roads and now Piper. What a sad day in the Wrestling Universe
Well shit, who is gonna kick ass, Chew Bubblegum, and then conveniently forget he forgot gum in the first fucking place now? No. Not Duke Nukem, hell just get distracted by tits.
This is very sad, I still can't believe it. One of my favorite moments is from Main Event 1985 in a hilarious Halloween segment. I learned today the little girl was Stephanie McMahon.
Damn, I loved his interview on Adam Corolla's podcast this past may. He had such a hard childhood and a interesting life besides wrestling, and was looking forward for more appearances on Adams podcast. Also when I was kid enjoyed him in wwf and loved him in, They Live, rockn movie. RIP Roderick "Roddy" George Toombs
Really, really sad to hear this news. Being a Scot, it was always great to see somebody who, if not actually Scottish, was at least of Scottish descent running around in a kilt in the ring. And of course, who can forget "They Live"!? I'll be watching this this evening in honour of the Hotrod himself.
The "Hot Rod" was one of the reasons I started watching pro-wrestling. Sure, Hulk Hogan was exciting at the time, but he was clearly out-classed on the mic. His villainy brought out the best in everyone he faced. Thanks for the memories.
Marty DeRosa @MartyDeRosa Jul 31 In classic #RoddyPiper fashion, he once again steals the attention away from Hulk Hogan. My favorite quote of the week. Taker really started about ten years after those other guys. (And about four decades after those ladies.) Jake Roberts is still out there doing indy shows from time to time. I'm not sure who else is still working that started in the '70s.
