Have they shown if the armor turns into something?

I'm assuming the UM in that latest picture is also a custom figure in the core given the colors on it (or maybe those are replacement pieces? Some if it looks like the Classics fig), and it's giving me a really strong "Classics version of Animated Ultra Magnus" vibe. I'd be curious to see if it has an alt mode reminiscent of him, too.

 

I don't know. I think this is a bit more different. The Voyager Classics Optimus is modernized, yet has all the elements looking reminiscent of what the old one looked. Here you have all the elements, but they are not reminiscent of the old look. They are just the elements. And just because there was no other super mode of G1 Optimus you know it's supposed to be Powermaster Optimus Prime. His chest looks more like Orion Pax than Powermaster Optimus Prime.

 

Could it be that you're looking at FP Warbot series Dai Atlas version?

I think you have it backwards. Voyager Optimus has the exact same chest you think doesn't look like Optimus here. So what's different? And Voyager Optimus had shoulders that captured none of the feel of the original character. And those huge kibbly forearms, etc.

But this has the shoulders and legs that capture the feel of Optimus perfectly. It's nowhere near exact, but I think this kit looks a lot more like PM Optimus than Voyager Optimus without this kit does to original Optimus.

Bears a strong resemblance to Animated Ultra Magnus - slap an elite guard symbol right on the chest and give him a hammer and it'd be a pretty good likeness.

 

That UM figure is classics with armor same as the prime in that image.

 

Ah. The colors on the arm kibble didn't match up with either of the versions I knew of, which is why I said it might be replacement parts or something.

Either way, have we seen if the armor pieces have an alt mode? All I've seen are the renders of a truck mode with tiny wheels.

 

Iirc the armor itself stays on during transformation and results in the truck mode with the tiny wheels.

 

Can't say I'm impressed at all.

Wow. FansProject is slipping in their design and quality departments bigtime! I've expressed disgust in the M.A.D.L.A.W review over loose joints and ratchets. But, this? It has visible fists in truck mode (Visible Hand Syndrome), and looks hastily designed.

 

Elegant, not too beefy.

I love it, love it much much more than city commander, reminds me of Rid 2001 Optimus, whom I grew up with.

How much do you guys think he will cost?

 

Man, I can't wait for this - my Classics Prime's paint is a little beat up at this point, but the armor would totally fix that (and make it look meaner, to boot).

 

The City Commander and Shadow Commander armor are 109.99 at BBTS regular price and the Shadow Commander armor is on sale, so I'm guessing it will be around there

Can't be that much dude, I think It's going to be about 60 bucks imported (like the one DX9 has for Evasion Prime) since this kit is considerably lighter ( I looked up BBTS after I posted the question)
