Swerve is like someone who uses humor as a defence mechanism to hide some very deep insecurities. Chandler in Friends did this all the time and of course there have been some very sad instances where someone who using humor all the time was very sick.

    Poor Swerve.

So I despise meta fiction. I just do. I ALWAYS feel it takes me out of what I'm experiencing and just blares "none of this matters!" Classic example is Back to Earth.

    So believe this is sincere

I REALLY liked this issue. I'd easily give it a 4/5. A great one shot character piece focusing on imo one of the most tragic characters in the series. We get some great insight into Swerve and those around him, love the holomatter designs, we get some cool evidence of how much Cyclonus has progressed as a character, and some interesting brief introspection with Megatron.

I wanted to hate this one. And I really like it. A lot. Well done James. Well done.

I'm surprised at how well that issue was. I'm not over the top for it, but it was really well written and there's plenty of things to enjoy about the issue. The amount of references was also stunning.

    Thumbs up for sure :thumb

Yeah, I dreaded this issue after the 3 page preview, but it turned out just fine. I'd even say good. I thought it would make me roll my eyes, but it worked in the end.

I can totally see Bluestreak Avatar being Hispanic female with a DJ look to it. It really does fit him.

Yep, definitely a shame. Looking back on it, I do feel it's a bit Hi and Bye of a story, with an ultimate subject matter that definitely deserves a bit more breathing room than the trials and tribulations of a Hifh School Camnien (and for the record I did really like the last two as well, I just think this is both a better, and more deserving story to be told over 2 issues) the mystery of Swearth alone deserved to be drawn out a little longer than 'What's that planet following us? Oh, it's just Swerve projecting his mind!' It could have been a real Wtf! Reveal rather than an almost rushed incidental.

You're absolutely right that a two parter would have made this latest issue really sing. I mean, I would've loved to have seen more of what Magnus was up to on Swearth. As it was, he got a one panel shot.

They could have played it up like a real "who done it" with this. Oh well, still an enjoyable read overall. Very pleased with the issue

Agreed. I like that Roberts really played up some thought provoking stuff without making it too complicated. I know others like those head scratchers, but sometimes a self contained -simple- story really is just fun to read.

    Ha!

You could also look at it as Megatron still using the Decepticons as a crutch (we never see what he says to Ravage's comment about the old Megs "just resting," and he's got a time case). His ditching it either alludes to him not wanting Rodimus to find out what he's up to, or simply not wanting to be seen as needing anything as a crutch, which seems very in character for Megatron, especially after his.meeting with Rung.

Now, I don't think this is setting up a heel-turn for Megatron. Not so soon after he turned face, not with a DJD conflict incoming. But Roberts has been seeding some doubt throughout the issues since Elegant Chaos ended.

I could be completely wrong, but I took the crutch to mean that Megatron views himself as old and broken. A warrior without a war. When he threw it away, it was his little way of saying he was still relevant and to prove a point to Roddy about still having some fight.

I thought that as well. I first I thought he kind of look like Magneto from X-men and Dr. Claw.

I don't see it at all really, unless there's a reference to some media personality that I'm missing. At a stretch his pop media interests could maaaaaaybe suggest some sort of MTV vox pop presenter, but considering his love of movies is actually quite in depth, and his original bio which has him talking constantly, inoppropriately, and being unsettling despite being a rather well liked chap, I'm amazed that Roberts didn't make him Abed from Community.

I think so. I am not familiar with Community to be honest.

Completely agree. Thinking more about this issue, it does come across very quickly. A two parter would have been really, really good I think.

I'm so glad the meta bomb returned in some way. :lol
Most of the nods, references and 4th wall stuff was entertaining, just a bit crowded, and it was a pretty heartwarming story for Swerve.

I'm mostly surprised by the fact it wasn't a two parter, like many have said it would have benefitted from it.

Hey, I'm all for more brown people appearing in the fiction as long as it isn't contrived. This was a pretty good use of that, actually. Bluestreak, for whatever reason, IDs as a brown woman. I dig it.

I don't really paid attention to the skin color so much. The clothes the fashion sense and headphones, mobile devices and cultural reference is fitting for Bluestreak. I mean seeing Bluestreak in a girl school uniform neat and formal would not be in character as such. The fact the avatar is always cheerful and upbeat sure talkative isn't contrive. I seen Telemundo people dress like this on Mexican stations on the border.

Dammit Abed as Bluestreak is too perfect.

    ugh....confounded holo-matter avatars.
