HI. I've just recieved legends Groove. Funky little fella he is, very very long legs. I've been trying all morning to transform him into Deffensors chest armor with absolutely no luck. I don't know which way he goes up, where the arms plug in, etc etc etc Being totally blind, I'm unabel to see the instructions and unlike the others, he's relaly not very easy to work out. Would someone please be able to tell me where all the bits go? I think i'm right in saying he sits on the chest with the fixed wheel facing down towards Deffensors crotch? Then I get lost. I understand the arms are supposed to peg into the legs soe how and that the arms also peg into the central deffensor chest section? None of the videos or reviews i've read explain it, so any help would be much appreciated. Thanks. Ed.
HI OptimushedPrune,i'm afraid that doesn't help as I have no eye sight, so cannot see the picture. can you perhaps describe him? i.e. wheel up or down, legs towards the top or bottom of the chest? or how the legs/arms plug in? there are loads of videos online of people doing it, emco I think has a great one but again, no real description
Sorry, totally missed that you said you were blind, Groove goes wheel facing up on the hexagonal peg on Defensor's chest, Grooves arms have little pegs that go into the holes in the sides of the block on Defensor's chest and honestly can't remember how the legs go but pretty sure the peg into Groove's arms somewhere.
I was about to link to my gallery where I did a range of views on how the chest goes - but as you point out, that would not be helpful this time. I'll describe it as best I can. From robot mode, position the arms straight down by Groove's sides. Push the chest / front window of the bike up, into motorbike position. Lift the robot legs, so he is doing the splits. Fold the chest crunch / crotch hinge all the way forward, so the legs are coming up in front of the chest. You will now want to rotate the legs 90 degrees, so that the knees bend back toward the body and the robot arms. If you have the legs in the right position, then a slot on the lower legs should match with a tab on the robot arms. Tab them both in. You now have Groove in chest mode. To attach Groove to Hot Spot / Defensor: there is a small socket on the back of the robot crotch. This matches with a peg on the chest of the Defensor torso mode. Peg this in first, motorbike wheel facing up, toward Defensor's face. Once pegged in, you can secure the chest with two pegs on the arms of Groove. These plug into the sockets on either side of the raised ridge in the middle of Defensor's chest, just below the hinge near his chin. Hope that helps!
HI sol fury. ok, getting there. can you describe where exactly the tabs and slots are on the lower legs and the arms please? think once i hve those figured out, everything elseshould be quite obvious.
Easiest way is from robot mode.flip his window up. Then do his abdominal crunch so now the legs are pointing forward. Then split his legs rotate them and bend the knees, so now his feet are pointing behind him. There are small flat tabs on Grooves arms that (loosely) peg into corresponding holds in his legs. Now rotate the who thing 90 degrees so Grooves face points downward and his front wheel points up to the sky, thats pretty much it. His arms are pointing straight back and his pointy knees are pointing downward. To attach to Defensor there is a horizontal hole in Grooves crotch that pegs onto a peg on Defensors front. Grooves arms also have short 5mm pegs that pegs into the sides of a center block on Defensors chest. Hope this helps. Edit In robot mode the arm slots point outward to the left and right just below his elbows. The leg slots are in the middle of his calves, and look horizontal when Groove is standing.
The slots on the legs are next to the wheel halfs. There are five of them. The middle set are deeper, and are the ones that go with the arm tabs. Did anyone mention to fold his feet in? Despite what all the Hasbro photos show, he's meant to go on Defensor with the wheel facing up. It's not just the peg on Defensor and the socket either. The larger pegs on Groove's arms fit better if he's wheel up. Their is little depressions that Grooves hands fit in much better.
TThanks guys, i have him figured out. I have to say though, i hate hate hate how his legs constantly untab from his arms any time you fiddle with deffensor. Added to that the lovely chest shield that likes to pop off the shoulders, aand the PE upgrade set for the feet where the ankles love to tilt forward and I@ve just about had enough however, he is standing, he is holding his extremely thin rifle and that is enough for me for now. Thanks all. ed.
Aren't there video reviews out there where they show you how to do this? Wouldn't that have been much easier to follow along with?
Most video reviews don't really describe what they're doing in detail. They just go "take this and tab it in here, then fold this part like so" which is useless for a blind person. Most of the time they don't even say which mode they're starting from I've found those who use stop motion, like Lazy Eyebrow Review, are better if you need audio instructions since they have to photograph the transformation step by step and are usually more precise in narrating what's going on.
Thanks guys for all the help. Soymonk, yes, some videos do describe but very very rarely. often, if i don't have instructions i have to view about 8 videos to even get a starting point. The problem these days is often that the vehicle or armor mode or whatever isn't something recognisable, so i don't know really what i'm aiming for. I've still not decided if i like Groove or not on there they could have done a much better job of integrating him IMHO
