The showrunners are Mairghread Scott and Adam Beechen and both are terrible as writers (though Beechen is a decent secondary writer).

Wonder what their going to do with Mask? I read in the hisstank article the rumors to put Matt Tracker in Gijoe 3.

They have been setting these brands up for such a long time now.
Hopefully Micronauts/Rom and M.A.S.K. get pushed in a way that is a actual branding shakeup for retail. And not just brand anniversary online exclusives.

Because right now I think consumers are a bit burned out from Age of extinctions incredibly convoluted and horizontally structured product line. Or just the general saturation of Optimus Prime and Bumblebee every year. Fortunately this brand will be able to adapt. Even going into full toys to life skylanders esq play.

I'm a MASK fan too, and I thought Habro couldn't strip my wallet anymore than they do with Transformers...dang

If the brand was hot, a movie year would only be the beginning. It would increase in the years after. It shouldn't matter that CW is aimed at nerds. It's still product children can buy in stores. But Transformers right now is a confusing mess of several different things.

Don't just blame Hasbro for the shelves being filled still with AOE. Remember the stores themselves order and stock the shelves. If they decide they aren't resetting and are gonna sell that AOE Hot Shot that has been sitting there for a year... Well no Combiner Wars for you. Oddly enough my area hasn't been too bad about that, after a slow start. Just need to find the Protectobot limbs again. Remember stores have to order and stock the assortments.

And it doesn't need to be movie only to sell. Look at the turtles toys. Had movie and show stuff on the shelves, and overall the show moves better than the movie.

As for MASK... I'm hoping something like the stealth force DOTM toys. Vehicles that when you press the button, all sorts of guns and jets and stuff fold out, only with a drive that can be fit inside. That would be cool.

Glad to hear MASK is making a return, one of my favorite lines from back in the day.

As for Transformers suffering from a non-movie year, this is a bit misleading. They are talking about initial retailer orders, and not customer take-away. Yet every retailer struggled to move AOE product, and many still have the line stuffing their shelves, now worn packaging never to be purchased. So the movie only excited retailers initially, and ultimately bombed at market, driving consumers away from the brand overall.

Hasbro needs to reconsider its strategy of allowing retailers to over-estimate demand and then meeting those orders which leads to clogged shelves and consumer burnout. TF'07 may have been under-represented at the outset but at least it proved there was demand and excitement, it helped move non-movie product under the brand umbrella. Hasbro needs to show restraint and control their market for these movies.

Even when the brand was exploding hot right after the first film the year afterwars still saw a slow down. It's just a fact that CW is product children can buy at stores that is not and will never be advertised by the same reach that having a movie out there in the wild can.

I will not disagree the brand right now is unwieldy and it doesn't help the packaging is so similar from line to line to subline, but it's all kinds of dumb to claim Hasbro is acting like any non-movie line is a lost cause, they are simply aware of how things work. Movie toylines have a wider reach than Classics and their cartoons wil lever manage, or atleast that is what retailers believe, the year would be down compared to the last one regardless of what happened.

Even back in the ROTF days, the following year which had some of the best streamlined toyline efforts around still saw a drop in sales.

The only brand they have immune to that effect is Marvel honestly, and that is only because Marvel has movie toylines out every year so they can just keep going with the motions.

If you hate RID15 that much then why keep on watching it? If it's to see if it'll get any better that's one thing but if not then why bother watching something you can't stand to begin with? That doesn't make any sense.

As for the topic at hand well while there are factors like Hasbro probably needing to rethink how it sells products and the retail stores needing to restock every now and then, the idea of not being a movie year isn't entirely wrong either. It's not the only reason sure but still the movies tend to often have more exposure then the likes of a TV series or comics etc.

I specifically said because "it's the only TF show on". Did you even bother to read my post past the first few words? If so you would have clearly seen that. Given a better option I would gladly stop. Unfortunately...

Re: MASK. I really hope it's a brand new take using the essence of the old mingled with what works from the new, rather than some kind of re-hash or re-issue of the OG toys. They were of their time and fun, but wouldn't hold up well today.

For a slow death, Transformers is pretty lively, and we still have a LOOONG way to go before we get to a situation comparable to 1995/1996, or GI Joe for that matter.

This is intriguing news about MASK. I liked MASK as a kid, though I considered it to be more of a second-tier toyline after Transformers GI Joe. I had a few MASK vehicles. I wonder what Hasbro is planning?

If this is like other product line anniversaries then Hasbro will likely reissue a classic vehicle, or issue a modern update of a classic vehicle. Then we will see how they sell, and if the product sells well we may be treated to a few additional pieces in the line, or perhaps a subscription service.

Mairghread Scott's episodes were without doubt the best in the series, and she is not the showrunner, she's the script coordinator and writers assistant. She wrote all of 3 episodes. Adam Beechen is producer, Steven Melching is story editor.
Always better to know what you're talking about before making up crap dude.

People have been saying TF is dying a slow death for at least twenty years. It's true in the sense that nothing will last forever but if you think it's doing badly now then you're just wrong.
