The FOC version will have no bearing on whether I get the TW ones. I felt the FOC data discs where spring-loaded trash, and regretted getting the Decepticon ones. On the new ones, I'll have to wait and see them. From Buzzsaw, though, and my opinion of the Legends line to date (which isn't great; even the figures like Shrapnel have weird hips), I'm not too optimistic.

Buzzsaw doesn't look very good to me. His bird mode is bad, seeming to be sacrificed for his alt mode, and his alt mode is nonsensical to me. Seriously, what kind of modern technology is that supposed to be? Looks like some kind of re-enforced, child-proof cell phone. If they all end up with that alt mode, I'm going to be sad.

Maybe the redeco autobot cassettes will somehow be more appealing. They'll have a shorter hill to climb since I don't have any updated versions of them, but they'll still probably have to do better than Buzzsaw has.

I was rather more fond of the FOC Soundwave/Blaster mold, but I may still get the new versions. Again, I'll have to wait until I can see them better to decide.

Replaced my FOC Blaster and Soundwave long ago. Wasn't terribly fond of them.

maybe depends on how good they are and/or how they interact with blaster. also how good will blaster be? these are all factors.

In response to the O.P., No. I love my data disks. Just like I love my G1 Cassettes. Never replace, just give them more friends.

Depending on how the rumored Soundwave looks, I might get him, and some of his minions. FOC Ratbat and Laserbeak are pretty good, but the other minions are much weaker, so if the update versions look better, I'll probably get them.

i'm a toy collector, i do not replace old toys with new toys.

that isn't how toy collecting works.

then i would argue that they are not collectors, and are just simply fans.

having one of each character, is not a collector.

Fair thought...but...if one was a collector of a complete G1 cast...only updated in CHUG form...why would they need two Megatrons' or three First-Aids'...as there was only one in the cast of the cartoon...the very cartoon they are a fan of...;) ...

Am I the only one on this board that has a WFC/FOC collection side by side with my Classics collection?

I'm the kind of collector that there's only one version of each character, and then the other toy(s) become either someone else it looks like, or an obscure character, or a new character I make up, I'm fine with multiples of the same figures hanging around. I got a bunch of 'CHUG' Optimus TOYS for example, but only one of those is actually the Optimus CHARACTER - every other Optimus toy is just some other character.

So in theory I got no problem with multiple Soundwaves and Blaster toys, cause renames. Fine.

I'm not very big on the pics I saw of the Blaster though. I really dislike 'applianceformers' nowadays, and boomboxes and cassette players? Really? Nowadays? No. Just...not something I care about anymore.

So I'll likely skip Blaster and Soundwave's upcoming and keeping the FoC versions. Besides, it gives parity. I got the Soundblaster also, and a spare Blaster to repaint into Twincast eventually.

The minions though? I'll be nabbing them. I was going to get doubles of the Data Disk versions for repainting purposes, but, if Hasbro/Takara releases all the important ones, the Data Disks can be the characters I had planned to make the repaints of and never got around to.
