That same idea occurred to me a few days ago to use as a last resort. Either shaving or paring it down.

 

How much does a TFCC Subscription cost

 

Considering how bloody much we pay for these things things, and being an international customer, that's outrageous postage costs (from experience it only costs about twenty bucks to post a deluxe, with tracking) AND the fact that, since import duty isn't factored into the international subscription, I have to pay ANOTHER twenty bucks (GBP equivalent) on top due to customs and handling.... The LEAST I expect is to have a properly assembled figure. But no. Got my Nacelle today, and its wing hinges and tailfins are ass-backward. Thanks a bunch, TFSS.

If the Mayhem Squad combiner next year get screwed up, I'm gonna come round some houses with the DJD...

Edit: can't believe the badly fitting stickers on the wing tops either! What, they couldn't paint or tampo something on there? Just send us the pieces on the sprue, why doncha? Nacelle is a total DIY job...

 

Any tips on how to get those wing hinge pins out? I've been tapping at one on-and-off for a while, and the pin doesn't seem to have moved any.

Managed it, but I think these are the sorta pins more suited to the heat-up-and-remove process.

 

I'm not saying that expecting your figure to be properly assembled, per se, is a bad thing, but when that moves to the kinds of things people are suggesting FunPub should do to prevent misassemblies, or to correct them once discovered... no.

All those things you're paying, all that is simply to get the figure to exist in the first place. That's it. For such a small production run, that's all that money is going to. When misassemblies happen even on full-production run figures that Hasbro puts together, this can be readily acknowledged. While Hasbro is perfectly willing to make substitutions if a misassembled figure has a correctly-assembled version readily available, even FunPub does that. But if the misassembly is universal, even Hasbro can't and won't fix that. Why do we expect FunPub to?

But, no, people seem to forget that small production run figures cost a lot more just to get the base level of existence, and act like paying that extra money gives them a right to expect a level of service that even Hasbro can't provide.

 

Yeah, I was pretty much in disbelief myself when I discovered the stickers were oversized compared to the pegs they're on. And yet they're just small enough to not be worth the hassle of attempting to trim them to fit given the likelihood of messing them up in the process. Depending how well they hold up, I may need to replace them at some point.

 

The stickers, like with Thrust, are meant to cover up the screws that are underneath them.

I don't disagree with your rational thought and I know that is the case, but that doesn't change the fact that the customer is going to feel that way:

"Hey, I paid $30 (GI Joe sub) or, what $50, for TF sub fig and it was messed up. Well, I probably won't get another sub if things aren't going to be right."

Yea, it cost more to make these figures. The bottom line for most people is the perception that your paying more so you expect more. That's just the reality of the situation.

 

Lets say someone wanted to start getting all the molds of this guy and Starscream, how many would he have to get besides the 3 main seekers, plus the Coneheads and Acid Storm

 

Small production runs (especially with a figure like G2 Starscream that has not shipped out) are also a lot easier to track down. Again, yes this may be a smaller operation like the club, but they do have the backing of a (nearly) $10b business in Hasbro. (Maybe I am wrong), but Funpub should refuse acceptance of the run from Hasbro if they have such an easy to spot error, and if they are so neglectful not to notice such easy to spot errors, that is on them, not me our you. Yes, we should demand a higher level of quality when we are paying $50-$60 for a $15 toy that is geared at collectors. Last person with any fault in this situation is the customer.

There are multiple variations of those characters. Classics Starscream has a different paintjob than Henkei Starscream etc, there are maybe 4-5 different decos for Starscream and a "ghost" one I think. I think 3 (or 4) different decos for every conehead, including one G2 repaint. Thundercracker has an actionmaster repaint besides 2-3 more standard blue decos, but he is also supposedly a shatterd glass character so it depends if you view him as another character or not.

But if you are satisfied with one of every character using the mold, the mold has been used for these guys;

Not that I'm aware of, but Pete did post about the never using this mold again, so I took that as a fare warning that there were going to be issues with the two toys ahead of time.

 

You can't buy this current subscription anymore. And with different line-ups, different size classes included, and changing costs, the price is likely to fluctuate each year. The price for next year's has not been announced.

That said, I *think* each sub has been in the $250-$300 ballpark.

 

My Nacelle arrived in the mail today. Same old story, both misassembly errors, oversized wing decals and the white paint apps on his shins aren't particularly good either. Fixed his tailfins in <5 min, the main wings will be a bit of a challenge. Shaving the joints down will be the last resort, but once they're fixed then I'll be satisfied with this figure. Of the 13 Club figures that I've owned, Nacelle alone had significant issues, so hopefully there won't be any more fuck ups after Starscream.

Execution aside I really like him, though I wish we could get the other two variations to complete the trio. But this mold deserves to be retired. It's served above and beyond the call of duty. Hopefully the next Deluxe jet design takes weapon clearance into account.

 

Used the form, as well as emailed the club with no response. Used Hasbro's chat, and she said they would escalate the issue (or something like that), I will follow up with them, because they haven't contacted me back since then.

So, because it is the last use we should have expected that it be mis-assembled? That is silly. I could understand that logic if it were mold flash or loose joints. If anything, after assembling it 31 different times, the workers should be able to do it in their sleep by now.
