It's astonishing what we let ourselves put up with compared to other fandoms.

Well semantics being what they may be... I guess we would need to define small percentage... and what age groups we are talking about... under 10 being children..

Also I really can't see the average parent who don't know anything about Transformers dropping $20*4 + $30 + tax for their kids when the show isn't even on the air anymore and if the children even know about these robots anymore. Devastator $150 + tax.. Plus they are all retro to the kids unless they have source for the retro media. Sure they are cool without a story behind them, but the children aren't going to beg parents to drop $150 unless they are a big fan...

Maybe I'm off... that is just the way I see it.

I think it is the other way around... aimed towards collectors to fight third parties while the young kids are a bonus.

That being said... all ages care about detail.. where the recent run of Combiner wars seeming to be lacking more and more.

Really, look at GIJoe, body parts on one figure are shared with at least a dozen different guys. Or the DCAU toys were every figure was a repaint of every other figure. Transforms is hardly unique when it comes to reuse. As for Star Wars, they can get away with it thanks to every wave being made up a with clone/storm trooper or battle droid in it.

LOL yeah it sucks that our Voyagers cost the same as Black Series / Legends figures despite having >10x more parts and less reuse of those parts, just as much articulation, and a whole additional play pattern.

    Oh wait.

The opposite of that thing. Yeah.

I'm still a bit miffed about blast off. the fact that Hasbro used the Quickslinger head, which looks nothing like Blast Off's, instead of Firefly's, which looks almost exactly like Blast Off's, is just baffling for me. Also, though I'm not entirely sure about this, but from what I've read about paint masks from Tfwiki, it probably cost Hasbro MORE money to use the Quickslinger head than to use the Firefly one, making things even more baffling.

    It... it just hurts

GI Joe has so many parts in the first place that it really doesn't matter if some are reused. They are extraordinarily detailed figures. Its quite a stretch to compare that to whole robots being recolored and nameslapped.

    Cool story.

I have to say, the Autobots forming Optimus Maximus and Sky Reign actually look fairly good here, especially Trailbreaker, Hound, Prowl, and Sunstreaker. I'm still more interested in the previous Classics/Universe/Generations versions of the characters, but I might settle for a few of these guys if I have to. The 1984 and 1985 Combiners are must haves for me, though I am prepared to accept that I may not get them. All the Leader Class figures are beautiful in my eyes, but Ultra Magnus and Megatron are the ones I'm out to get.

The only hope would be a Takara remold, none of these hold my interest. And the Fembots are very lazy, at the rate we are going we are lucky they did any remolding. I surprised they didn't just paint the figures pink and say look it's a fembot as cheap as hasboro is getting. At least the last fan bot Windblade was an original mold. This combiner is just lazy.

I think it would be hilarious if a 3rd party did their own fembot combiner that put this one to shame.

Victorion is, well, she's ummmm, very pinky red and aquamarine. Yikes.
Maybe they wanted her to fit in with the neon colored G2 Combiners?  Probably not going to add her to my collection.

I do like Sky Reign, he's interesting. I do think I'm going to wait and see what Takara offers for their G2 Combiner versions.

Very tempted to buy a few of the individual characters, like Smokescreen, Trailbreaker, Skywarp and a couple of others.

Seeing clearer images of G2 Superion over at TFormers with the numbers 5, 4, 3, 2, 1 stenciled onto the Aerialbots makes me think of the Thunderbirds theme. :D

Agreed. It's just so mind-blowingly strange. It's not even lazy- they went out of their way to put the wrong head on a body that would have otherwise worked OK and looked at least a little like the character? WHYYY. It makes no sense. And while I'm not happy with Blast Off as a jet (his name makes no sense now) I could have overlooked it and bought the toy. But that head just makes it a HELL NAW. I just can't justify spending money on it, and he's one of my favorite characters. I'm just hoping Takara does a better job (and possibly brings back something space-related to his alt mode).
