Long time, no share! Hey guys, I've still been around admiring all the great work going on here. I've just had my hands full with a commission & a (now) 7 month old. Been out of commission, so to speak, for nearly a year, although I shared a few new things here & there on my Facebook customs page. Just haven't found a lot of free time to share here & over at Sector70 like I always did. Anyway, just wanted to try & be a bit more active, assuming my daughter Riley lets me. haha This has been a huge WIP for right at a year now. Got this at the beginning of 2014, if I'm remembering right. I started off slow by simply wanting to cover the gold parts with a Tamiya Flat Aluminum, which is pretty darn lose to the factory silver that was originally used on this version of MP-10. As you see from the pics, I took it further by opting to paint the darker red with a brighter red more like G1 Prime should be. I took apart the chest cavity, arms, smokestacks, etc. I masked off the parts I didn't want painted, primed it, & sprayed it with a nice Krylon ColorMaster Red. Once the parts were dry, I put them back together a bit at a time. It's still a WIP, but mostly complete. I just want to touch up some areas with silver still & do some panel lining in places. And I still need to do the truck bumper silver. So, no alt mode just yet. Also planning to detail the clear trailer & do it in silver also. The last image with "MP Megatron" (Apollyon) is where he's at now. Hope you guys enjoy it. I have other stuff in the works & some Combiner Wars custom work to share hopefully soon.
Before pics, to show what I was working with. The last pic here shows the start of the silver smokestacks & the yellow along the waist (instead of the clear red it originally had).
The place where dreams are crushed.......WalMart. haha They seem to have the best price of the types I use or need.
Because, when it was first released, I wasn't working at the time. I was in the process of moving an entire household full of furniture due to a foreclosure because of a death on my fiancee's side of her family. Had to help move her mother's belongings while she was in the hospital (she's disabled) from a large home, into a smaller apartment. She lost her husband to cancer & couldn't afford the home due to that.We lived with them then, helping care for her with disabilities & her husband (my fiancee's father) with his chemo & regular doctor visits. Basically, we were caregivers & I had no income, other than a few odd commissions & selling part of my collection. We moved in with her into the apartment & I got a job the following year, after everything was settled. We still care for her, but I work full time & have a baby, so.....priorities, as you'll see. By then, people were raping others with prices on the original MP-10 on eBay. I kept passing because I had more important bills & all going on. By the time I decided to start saving some on the side for one anyway, they announced this one. I debated on getting the KO version, but this was still cheaper. Being a customizer, I chose the obviously easy option, in my opinion. At the time, we didn't know we'd be getting this new run again now of the original MP-10. So, in the end, uh, I decided to do what was best for my wallet, my skillset, & do what I do best. Sorry for the life story, just laying it out there for anyone else who questions why I did this......also, another reason why?......because I wanted to & can.
Awesome work Brian, glad to see you on top of your game again! Are you serious? You do realize what sub-forum you're in, right?
Looks great! I personally love chrome, but this looks really good considering it started as that fugly YOTH mess. I can't wait to see what you do with the trailer.
