The Gold does look Gold. Pics don't do this thing justice, mind you it's not the original Prime, but it looks better in hand. The Gold isn't in your face, but it looks nothing like yellow highlighter on chrome. It is Gold.

Picked him up today after work and thought it was my lucky day finding an mp in store...

Man... he's pretty fucking horrible lol.

I wanted to like this as it is one of my favorite molds. Colors are just off; I do dig the blue though. Joints are very loose and his legs do not peg in properly in alt mode. May be the only masterpiece figure I have to return ever. He really looks and feels like a KO. I wanted another mp10 to transform and such as the original hasbro one I have is on display, but this one is just ass. Was the original one made in Vietnam? I am going to open him up tomorrow after work and see if I can straighten a few things out to my liking. If not, he's going right back to TRU. The trailer is pretty bad and flimsy as well... No spike or roller doesn't help either.

To top it off, I paid more for this than I did the original hasbro mp10...  

I wish they had just re-released mp10 with a flipping horse sticker on the box. I'm pretty sure those would have sold like gangbusters... They surprised us with a mp grimlock reissue so I hope the new mp04 will be the original mp10.

Cool new box and art and everything, but this toy just does the mold a real disservice.

 

While a straight up rereleqse of the regular mp10 mold would be nice, I just dont see that happening this year because of the yoth version coming out. We will probably get another hasbro mp-10 release sometime in the future (ie.2-3 years down the road)

 

The legs of many of the originals don't peg in properly, it's a mold problem. And the joints on my YOTH are nice and tight, and no other QC issues either, except the axe assembled backwards.

I guess it's a personal preference, sure I'd have loved the original Prime, but it's not an option for me at the current prices. But to me this Prime doesn't feel cheap or knock off like, and is a good stand in for the MP -10. Sure I'd prefer chrome to the Gold, but to me the Gold isn't that bad. And for what this figure is, I bought it knowing exactly what it looked like and what to expect, but found pics made his Gold look more bright than it actually is, which I was glad the Gold is more muted in hand.

But yeah if Hasbro ever reissues Prime again in his standard colors....make No mistakes, I'm a gettin him, but this Prime is staying in my collection, even if he goes back in the box, or displayed in alt mode after....I do like this Prime personally.

 

What was Year of the Snake Prime like? And was there one before that?

Its been mentioned a few times, but has yet to show up on amazon even as a preorder. I'll believe it when I see it.

My original Hasbro Prime was perfect. He still is. Everything pegs in well on him and the gas cans even peg into his waist in alt mode.   I just don't like messing with him as he is on display. He does have a problem that irks me but there was no way I'd return him as I called multiple TRUs for months to find him...

I tried loosening the screws and such on YOTH and was able to get most of his stuff lined up properly, but the legs were still a mess. I think the original was made in Vietnam as well if I recall correctly which is why it puzzled me that this one was so bad. The molds couldn't have got this bad that fast. The gold is really dark though. I wish it were a little muted like grimlocks is. The tan gun is cool though. Trailer is still a mess.

I am glad you guys are happy with the purchase and get a chance to own the figure though. When I returned him today and asked if they had any for exchange because I was curious, the nice lady said that they were sold out everywhere. Who knows he may actually be pretty rare a few years from now.  

 

I just got this today, danm he looks good! He looks like a Prime who just had enough of the rules, and will not play nice anymore. Something about him looks badass and majestic at the same time. The darker colors and the use of black is a nice touch.
