Thanks guys! I'm also leaning towards the Takara version, primarily for the articulation and G1 guns. I was surprised how much I like the paint choices on the Hasbro version though. I think I may order both, enjoy the Hasbro version until the Takara version arrives, and then pass the Hasbro version to my brother or nephew.

 

Yeah I know what you mean, if the Hasbro one is there on a shelf down the road and TT's is going to be another month or three it's gonna be so hard to resist just picking one up to tide me over!

So, at this point, I feel I have to bow out of the topic maintenance unfortunately. I wish, for that reason, mods would consider renaming this topic the official Appreciation thread for Titan Class Devastator.

I had a kidney stone attack a few days back, and it left me totally wrecked basically. I'm okay now, or on the way to okay, but I just don't have the energy to keep up with the topic anymore sadly.

Still can't wait to get the Unite Warriors version once he's out. But they ALL look sweet. Glad to see people are enjoying him! Failing a re-title, mods giving control of the topic to someone else would also be cool. I just can't do it atm. Peace out!

jeez, UW version is a hundred stray dogs more than Hasbro's?... I think I'll gladly keep checking ebay for loose sets from china. that's an insane mark-up, even for colored combiner hands and elbows for individuals.

Here is the comparison of colors used in combined mode. Again, both Takara and Hasbro decos are inspired by both the cartoon and the G1 toy. Unlike the individual robot modes, Takara has more paint visible in the combined mode, with some details that better approximate the cartoon (purple in the left shoulder tracks, purple hands) and some that better match the G1 toy (lower part of the left foot).



Overall I give this round to Takara with a few caveats. I wish they didn't paint silver details on forearms, which is a little distracting and not really accurate to anything. Also, I understand they were trying to make the best of an impossible color scheme for the left shoulder tracks (purple in combined mode, green for Bonecrusher's legs and tracks), but I'm not sure it quite works and sort of compromises both modes.

 

Ok Devastator aside which set of Dinobots will look the best displayed attacking him? I think a set of G1 Dinos might fit the bill if they ever release them. What do you guys think?

 

I am planning to place Devy with my MP toys. Since both Devy and MP Grimlock are slightly undersized compared to the rest of the MP line, I think they will look perfect together.

 

I agree here, it's the one thing about Takara's take that jars with me. Tries to satisfy both camps, but manages to do neither very well. Prefer the all-green Hasbro colour scheme here.

 

Welp... just put a deposit down on Takara's Devastator. And with Hasbro's one getting to me by the end of this month... I need a lot of space for a combined (heh) Hasbro Devastator surrounded by Takara Constructicons display. Money, also more money too. Wallet be cryin'.

 

So anyone out there get this guy and if so anyone have loose hips or know how to fix them? Mine aren't terrible they could be a little tighter is all.

Already had to add some thickening agent to my mushroom Pegs but all in all he's pretty sweet.
