Can the treads be unpegged from all the connections and manually be made to move along with the actual Devy arms?

Nope. The treads at the very least need to connect into Hook, and the shoulder articulation comes from the waists of Bonecrusher and Scavenger. Even if you unplugged the treads from Long Haul and the chest piece, they simply can't rotate due to the main connection. Sorry!

Actually you can attach his arms like he has them up in the air. But that's it. You can't attach so the treads go any other way, like out in front, as the connector isn't square.

He looks cool. But I would've preferred 6 deluxes (or a mix of deluxes and voyagers) than that. That size is pretty overkill IMO.

Thanks for the detailed pics :) .

I like the scale personally. Most of my collection is based around voyagers so he should suit. Finally got one lined up, just gotta travel a few hrs to my brothers house to get it!

I'm sorry if that offended you, but I honestly didn't think there was anyone who would prefer the Hasbro version. The only reason I said that in the first place was to acknowledge the Takara version without having to constantly bring it up and therefore keep the focus on the Hasbro version.

Objectively, the Takara is the better version, so I also didn't want the review to imply I was ignorant of a version that fixes most of my complaints.

    Currently doing people's requests.

I asked in the feedback earlier but maybe it was missed. Could you weigh Devy with box so I know it's entire weight? I'm trying to calculate the aprox shipping cost of importing the Takara version. Another awesome member(davieanix)gave me an estimate of the weight but I'm trying to verify. -thanks GaGa

There's no need for you to apologize to him or to anyone. Especially to him, since we've all observed here and other Devy-threads that he somehow prefers only the Hasbro version based entirely on mere internet hearsays and completely ignoring the objective points you've made on your review.

Also, if you have time and inclination, it'll be awesome if you can do a video-review to accompany this text-review. That other video-review from the chinese guys were just far way way too long and quite unnecessarily so.

Wow. Wow wow wow wow wow. Excellent figure, excellent review!

Hmm. I'm still torn between the Hasbro and Takara versions. It's like deciding between the Mercedes-Benz or the REALLY AWESOME MERCEDES-BENZ THAT SOUNDWAVE TRANSFORMS INTO IN DARK OF THE MOON. Clearly, the latter is the better product. The Soundwave-Benz does everything the Mercedes-Benz does, plus so much more. But I'm wondering what it costs.

Typically, the Japanese versions of figures cost double to quadruple what it costs in the USA. Sure, the product is unquestionably better, often just due to more paint, but I usually happily get the USA version because the cost-to-benefit ratio makes the Hasbro product have more value per dollar.

Then again, the Takara product has MORE than just paint. It has more paint! Converting head! Double jointed elbows! Oh my! HNNNNNNNNNNNG.

If the Takara one is double the price of the Hasbro, though, that's practically Hercules-level price. Don't know if it's worth it. If it's anywhere within the realm of $200, though, Takara all the way.

I guess what I'm trying to say is, I'd be happy with either one, but I'd also be comfortable with the Hasbro one. Either way, you're getting a Mercedes.

This is pretty much where I'm sitting. I've got the Hasbro Devy preordered largely due to it being the first up and available to preorder. However, if preorders for the Takara version go up prior to Hasbro's shipping (and there isn't too much of a premium markup over it) I'll gladly switch over. I like the extra articulation in the individual bots, the guns, and the extra paint, but not enough to pay a 50% (or more) premium.

Exactly. I would really like to know the actual prices of these before I start thinking. I thought the Takara had the chrome purple..but I stand corrected, thats just the SDCC..sweet..no need to hunt down that.

If the Takara can be had for just a bit more than the US release..I may do it too..all depends on price on this one.

Im seeing tons and tons of ugle hollow spots that I cant justify a huge price tag with. I wont complain about it, but I sure as hell wont fork over a bunch just for a few differences..on something that looks like It could very well be downsized to legends and work.

I cant wait to finally see this in a store..it will be full on kid mode..

I can't see how this will come in less than $250 which is a $100 premium.

Ugh, I love the TT elbows, just not a $100 worth.

    $175 devs
    $75 shipping by slow boat.
These are best case scenarios IMHO.

    $225 and I'm in.
    $250 hmmmm
    $260 and I'm out.

I'm betting on the UW version being in the $225-250 shipped range from HLJ or Amiami. Possibly in the $250-275 range if bought from BBTS or TFSource.

    My reasoning:
UW Superion is $97.57 at HLJ, with $31.50 shipping for 2-7 business days. This totals $129.07.
The same figure from BBTS is $135 before shipping, which is $8.24 for FedEx 3-5 day delivery. This totals $143.23.
This is a $14.16 difference to buy it domestically.

Personally, if I'm paying a premium for the import, I want to spend as wisely as possible.

What if after all the 3p upgrades the total amount would end up costing more ex than the TT version?

Have you guys easily forgotten Crazy Devy & their ridiculously overpriced add-on kits.

BTW for those thinking it's just elbow upgrades on the TT version..well it's more than that actually. Below is a transcript from the Titan Devy condensed thread detailing all the differences spotted so far in Takara Unite Warriors version:

•Bonecrusher's treads are green exterior, purple interior
•Devastator has purple hands, and black forearms have silver trim
•Long Haul has forward swinging elbows now (not just side to side,) and his arms are black from the forearms down
•Scrapper now has functional elbows. To account for potential stability issues in combined mode due to this, his fists fold out and there is additional support molded at the base of the wrists
•Mixmaster has paint detailing making his rear end look more like a cab than in the Hasbro version (no significant mold changes to switch him from a front loader back to a rear loader, though)
•All individual bots have paint app differences of one kind or another
•All individual bots have their original weapons
•Devastator face sculpt may or may not be different, but definitely has a retractable visor for two different eye aesthetics
•Painted silver rims for vehicle wheels

The paint doesn't make much if a difference for me, as I think the Hasbro version has more and looks sharper. The added joints, new head and weapons are worth the price difference, at least for me.

Yup, don't think it will be any cheaper if going for the Hasbro+ 3P add-on route and Takara Dev looks fine as is.

The Hasbro one looks amazing in person. I may even still get the Takara one dependant on price and when I get a good look at it, but I can honestly say that the Hasbro Devastator is easily in my top 3 Transformer purchases ever.

Right now the only things that are bugging me on the Hasbro one are the rims, which I'd rather be silver, and bonecrusher's treads, which I'd prefer to be black. Both can be fixed with a little paint, so I'm content with the Hasbro version.
