Heh aye; with my Megatron, the need to make him taller came about because I did the Prime add-on kits, and then realised I'd made Prime taller than Megatron, which is an affront to nature.

Well, that and he needed ankle tilts...  

And yup, I'm looking forward to seeing how that Armada chest turns out; since I was doing a more G1 chest for him, the Armada version had to happen, too.  

Hmm, I shall have a look at it, and see how it looks when it's painted up as well.

 

I'm not even going to ask how you added the filigree, because you've obviously been cavorting with Lucifer.  

Damn, you weren't kidding when you said you have a knack for seeing the gold in the crap (not saying the fig's crap, you know what I mean). One of the main things that bugged me about CW Megatron was how his torso looked, but with this new chest, he looks absolutely awesome.

And coupled with the new feet and lower leg add-ons, this is turning out to be a case of making a good toy perfect.

Oh, and if you find a death threat in your inbox one of these days, that's my wallet's doing.

Basically, massive thanks to DaimChoc for sharing my Megs gallery on Facebook, 'cos christ, I don't believe I fully understood the word "snowballed" until I saw my post reach jump up to 4 digits. After I'd sat there stunned for about, oooh, 4 hours, going, "What the christ just happened??" over and over again, I thought I'd best pop back on here in my bewildered state!  

Seriously, I'm blown away. Everyone is awesome, and if I could afford it, I'd buy you all Jaffa cakes!

Great work as usual, Jon. Would it be possible for you to show us the 3D models for the parts or something? It's hard to see all the details in the pics you currently have up, especially of the face.

 

It's funny you should mention that, since I meant to do that earlier, and completely forgot!  









That last one also shows how the new chest works, with it opening up during transformation (although the design has been tweaked a tad since then, with new clips at the top and bottom; oh and there's no logo on the chest, natch, I just put that there for doing a test render or two).  

 

Wow, that head looks very impressive. If your finishing experiments prove effective, I may be forced to pony up for that piece.

 

Heh, I'll be perfectly honest, that head was one I was absolutely adamant about making available in the White Acrylic detail plastic, and I'm very glad I did; the finish on it is lovely and smooth.  

 

You see, I'm actually contemplating getting megs and op now because of you dude...

Nice work! I love the new chest - it fixes the main problem I have with this Megatron. The stock chest makes it look like Megatron has saggy boobs. Your upgrade is 100x better!!

 

Looks good! I've already pre-orderd the Dx9 kick for Megatron, but I'm liking your cannon cover better.

Any plans for something to hide the red shoulder sticks?

Heh, thanks very much, and I swear I thought the exact same thing when we started seeing pics of Megs! That's one of the reason why I was so adamant about finding a way to make the chest work (because my first concern with every projects I do is: I want a good looking figure myself).  

Annnnnnnnnd that's the other reason I was so adamant about doing the new chest, because that's the one thing no-one else is doing, so people might want to grab that even if they get DX9 or the other one whose name I've forgotten. And as for the cannon cover, I'm going to be doing the same I did with Prime, and selling each add-on separately. I reckon the cannon cover will be about 4 quid ($6), 'cos it's only wee.  

As for the shoulders... I did originally plan to completely replace those joints, to make the shoulders sit higher. Then I got the figure, spent 10 minutes looking at it, and said, "Bugger, that's not going to work at all."  

I did actually see a Radicon who used a couple of cut up Vicks snotty nose inhalers as shoulder covers, and I remember thinking at the time that it was a genius mod. I'm having real trouble finding that thread, now, but I encourage everyone to hunt it down, because that idea worked fantastically well.

Seriously though, these look great, keep on keeping up the good work!   And as usual, when I'm able and the parts are ready, I'll be more than happy to test the Armada pieces!

Basically, they peg in to the 5mm ports on his legs, and there's just enough clearance under there for them to not drag on the ground when he's rolling. I shall have better pics of that when everything's tweaked and finalised.  

Yes! That's the one! I've not done it myself yet, but if the shoulders really bug people, I encourage them to go with Neurowing's mod, 'cos it's utter genius.
