Did he do this legendary cover or was it by someone else?

That cover is by Mark Bright. Norem never did any work for the Marvel comic.

I'm sorry to hear this. I spent a lot of time reading those storybooks as a child and Earl's wonderful art helped bring the characters alive on the page for me. May he rest in peace, and condolences to his loved ones.

Loved this guy's artwork. It was his work, not the cartoon or toys, that brought He-Man to life for me.

Earl Norem deserves a lot of respect for his artwork.

The world just got a little less awesome. Hope you had a good life buddy.

I have the "Battle for Cybertron" one, well it's a swedish translation of it but it's the same illustrations. I read it and listend to the included tape a lot in the eighties. I like the cover and the art in that one.
The cover of "Wheelie, wild boy of Quintessa" is cool too, even if I have never heard/read that story.

He brought us "The Great Car Rally" which contains some of the most skillfully presented pieces of TF WTF illustration of all time. :)

    Thanks, Earl.

Earl Norem' s art is so iconic and memorable, it's his legacy. It is a sad to lose another contributor to the joy of our childhoods.

Be at Peace Mr. Norem, and thank you for your art! God Bless you & your family in this time of grief & remembrance.

Oh cool, he did the artwork for The Story of Wheelie, the Wild Boy of Quintesson. The only time Wheelie was badass.

This has inspired me to make a Sharkticon tooth necklace for my GDO Wheelie.

That's too bad. The big looker story books with Norem's art are some of my fondest childhood transformers memories. He was an excellent artist.
