I like some of the Combaticons.
Brawl and Swindle look great. Onslaught would be better with his dual turret instead of repurposing Hot Spot's guns.

Vortex is colored funny, but ok other than that, just wish that mold was a little more unique.

"Blast Off" is Blast Off in name only. Doing a straight repaint of an aerialbot and name slapping it is pathetic. No retooling whatsoever and not even a new head. Truly an embarrassing moment for Hasbro.

Luckily, we have Takara who we know will get the job done right. So little tykes and those who will buy anything get their whatever it is 'cause they'd buy it no matter what, and the rest of us get our Bruticus that has some standards.

    Takara will fix this mess.

I like that Takara is likely to provide an option more faithful to the original characters, but at the same time, I wish it weren't necessary.

    It is what it is.
It makes no sense to buy anything Hasbro Combiner Wars until we see the Takara versions. Hasbro has intentionally changed members in every group, while Takara tries to be faithful to the source.

It just sucks that the Tak combiners come out months later than the Has versions. But that's ok, I can wait for good things.

I think it looks fantastic with a few caveats that I fully expect Takara will take care of. At the very least I expect they give Blast Off a new head, if not a full new mold (honestly he makes about 1000x more sense to me as a jet anyways, I just can't accept Slingshot in disguise as Blast Off)

I'm a little bummed that he still has two rotor blades. It's a minor thing, but I always associate Vortex with his four rotor blades, ideally hanging off his back. If I could make one change to this latest iteration of the mold, it would be that.

I'm undecided. Right now I think it's ironic that Blast Off and Swindle were 3P's first original mold for Energon Bruticus and now we may need them again.

Quite like it but the thunder has been stolen for a few reasons:

Other than Brawl, all remolds. While the remolding is extensive enough on Onslaught and Swindle that they're practically new figures (and damn sharp looking ones at that), the molds for Vortex and and Blastoff have been beaten into the ground.

Takara' versions always seem to trump Hasbro's with the proper characters included right off the bat, and in the case of Devastator extensive remolding. And I even happen to like at least half of the decos on the Hasbro version better. But with this line, it doesn't pay to jump the gun before seeing what improvements Takara will make.

Just completed Warbotron last month. As good as CW Bruticus looks, it ain't that.

Not to say I'm not getting this and that it doesn't look great, just that my excitement is a bit muted even compared to how excited I was for Superion, Menasor, and Defensor (who all tuned out great BTW).

Yeah, even just a small touch like that makes the character better and separates him further from similar looking figures.

Takara probably won't add the extra blades, but I wouldn't be surprised if they did.

Yes,he's absolutely to buy, one of my favorite of this toyline in combiner mode.
And just as Stunticons, team has great members in both modes but Blast Off is disappointing because at least he should have received same head that had in the toon or very similar, was so original and cool...new head doesn't fit at all.Ruins the character.

In vehicle mode, also if it's a lazy repaint and I'd have prefer a bigger type of military plane,Blast Off isn't that bad.

+1. Hopefully an easy remedy, if not by Hasbro then by Takara.

    Ah that makes sense.

Looking at the pics I'm more partial to the silver one myself.

I think its easily the best looking CW combiner.

On the flip side no CW combiner really impresses sadly.

Proportions are crappy, but Bruticus seems to look the best. Think its the choice of molds used lessens the ape arms and funky legs. Looks much better than Defensor.

Galvatron, Motormaster/Prime molds are pretty much crap.

Not really a fan of it since, outside of Brawl's alt mode and everyone's colors, there's barely a passing resemblance to the originals. Then again, that goes for virtually every CW team. I think the ones that got it the closest are the (Takara) Aerialbots.

    * not referring to the Constructicons/Devasator here since they're as spot on as they can get, and I see them as their own thing above & beyond the standard CW teams

    I love it !

Important thing for me is seeing Brawl getting his own dedicated tank mold.
The colors & aesthetics are actually very pleasing - in both the display pieces as shown as well as in the renders.

A bit of a shame about Blast Off, but no absolute turnoff for me. I do have to say him being a space shuttle was indeed a quirky unique thing though. Especially with the toy having the split nose cone for hands.

I'd say, Unite Warriors Superion still looks like #1 to me, with Dev and Bruticus shared 2nd place.

I like everything except Blast Off. Onslaught is cool with being Hot Spot backwards in alt mode and the cannons work he just needs a gun while they stay on his back. Brawl is the best one of the bunch and he needs a gun too so the tank cannon can stay in place for me. Swindle from Rook? Didn't see it coming but I like it. Just wish they give him his trademark smirk. Vortex is what we knew from the moment we saw Alpha Bravo. Everything is cool with me about him. Blast Off Blast Off Blast Off. A new head would have done wonders.

I really like the proportions on the combined mode. Defensor looked a little off in combined mode and I was concerned that Bruticus would just have the same exact Torso mode as him, but to see they gave him the chest shield and new crotch really help its look. All it needs is some new hands, feet and back cannons and its a slam dunk. Not gonna mention Blastoff as it's been said to death.
