Unless they have a shovel, and a really good necromancer, that's probably not gonna be an easy order to fill.

It looks cool, but there are some things I am not liking.

Seems that the moves are shared across the characters. So that spinning punch move was done by Sideswipe, Optimus and Bumblebee.

This seems lazy to me. They should all be separate, and have unique moves.

Which leads me to point number 2. Their fighting isn't reminiscent of the G1 cartoon either. Looks like they came up with all new moves I have never seen a TF do.

These are big robots, and they are moving at warp speed. Doesn't make much sense really. Also, Sideswipe should be faster then Optimus and so forth, but from what I see, he wasn't.

Once you get over the ohhhh, it's G1 transformers, it doesn't capture the feel just right.

It was pretty awesome, but I did facepalm a bit when the interviewer said Transformers was known as "Car Robots" in Japan even though this is based on G1 and not "Robots in Disguise 2001."

But then... you'd just have a cover shooter where no matter how hard you try, your shot's five yards wide of the target (unless aiming at inanimate objects), with a small smattering of incredibly clumsy melee punches thrown in.

Rapid-fire combo-based combat might seem a bit out of place for the characters in question, but it makes for fun gameplay. Remaining true to the G1 aesthetic... won't. If you want something more in line with how TF combat is traditionally depicted, WFC and FoC are still around.

Yeah, it's a bit of a weird mash-up of styles, but unfortunately, G1 doesn't have much "style" in that regard worth emulating.

It looks like a solid action game, but I have to agree that for only having 5 characters, they aren't very unique. Combos, moves, and animations looked samey for the ones shown and the fighting style is very Platinum rather than G1 Transformers. G1 Transformers would mostly consist of shooting with much less stylized melee being used occasionally. Vanquish styled gameplay would have been better fit than Bayonetta (they even use the time slow as a counter attack like the latter). Replace the Vanquish slide with transforming and have a focus on gunplay rather than melee. Not sure why they went with this direction.

It's a Platinum game with a G1 Transformers skin. I still love it though.

They have separate moves. They certainly have separate weapons. Sideswipe fights with a flare gun and swords, which play differently from Prime's axe and blaster. They might share launcher moves, but when you have a combo-heavy game, that's to be expected. It captures the feel of a Platinum brawler perfectly, which is what no doubt brought a lot of people to the table.

I'm a little nervous that it's arena style fighting, as in you have to clear the area before moving on. But I'm cautiously...Optimustic about this.

I swear that Swerving to hit someone with the trailer as an attack move is fucking awesome.

They get it, Vehicle modes isn't just some way to get around and blend in, it's still them and they can still fight in those forms.

Add more characters and we got a perfect game.

I'm loving the look of this, both in style and gameplay. The speed and fluidity of the combat (very Platinum) mixed with the transformations, combos, and gunplay is exactly what I've been waiting for in a Transformers game.

While I understand some people grievances about the style and gameplay, I kinda appreciate the change of pace this game is bringing. The last few transformers games have been 3rd person shooters with a little melee combat thrown in. This seems like the reverse of that which gives us something a lil different.

As for the aesthetic, I love it! It's unapologetically G1 and like the producer was saying it seems to be an amalgamation of different G1 properties with the cartoon, IDW, and the generations toy line all having major influences. All three happen to be my favorite aspects of G1. And I can't believe they got the voice actors for bumblebee and sideswipe. I'm interested to see how they're voices have changed.

As a huge gamer and transformer fan, this game has me completely over the moon. It's easily one of my most anticipated games of this year!

While I'm happy to hear it'll be getting a PC release as well as console, the fact that I can't play as both factions is still a disappointment. Pity too, because this looks like it could be a lot of fun.
