Ha ha I mean explosions and stuff; I just use the cell animations from the old toon for my explosions/laser blasts etc :)

In terms of animation it looks like we use similar principles; am I right in thinking you only use animation on areas of the image that need to move? Like if just the head of a character is turning, the body itself doesn't need to be rephotographed multiple times. That's how I do it, avoids unwanted movement and means you only have to worry about the part that's actually moving.

Well I do still rephotograph it, but I stay away from too much movement as I noticed the more cinematic the animation has to be the less movement there should be, so I try to make it subtle. Like if you check out AbsurdlyAwesome's Transformers animations you'll see that for the comedy reasons he animates them completely differently but since the story I'm telling is darker I apply different approaches :)

Agree, less is more. A lot of CGI animation drives me mad because every character onscreen is constantly floating around non-stop, even if they're not doing anything! Particularly with giant robots I think it's important to have a sense of them being solid and rooted in place when not doing something.

Indeed! I think that if the tone of the video is very comedic having them all over the place is understandable because it adds value to the physical comedy, but if the tone is more serious they should stay rooted mostly and only action sequences would require a lot more movement.

Haha that is actually me. I'm glad you said that because I was afraid it'll suck and it's the only voice I'm doing myself so far in these series :)

It's a VERY impressive Frank Welker impression. Nice work! You get lots of brownie points for making it VERY believable.
