Count me among those who didn't see it in theaters. I had been a Transformers fan for years, but the movie, much like the Unicron Trilogy before it, didn't hold much interest for me. I wasn't interested in a Transformers "re-imagining," but that was fine because at the time, a number of fans were going around lecturing other fans who had misgivings that the live action movies weren't intended for us, the older long time fans, but to bring more kids to the franchise.

A number of fans went even further, lecturing that we were such a small, insignificant percentage of Hasbro's customer base, that they would be foolish, even stupid to care what adult collectors liked and wanted. Oh... Well... Okay then. I remember feeling so disenfranchised by the whole thing, I basically ignored the movie and just quietly hoped that once it had run it's course, we'd get some new Classics style toys. Which of course we did in Universe 2.0.

As for the movie, I didn't see it till it came out on cable TV. And it was... Okay. Technically impressive to be sure, but story and character wise, kind of meh. A lot like the Unicron Trilogy, come to think of it. Still, I liked it enough to catch the second movie when it came out on cable, and to this day, I still enjoyed Revenge of the Fallen more then I did the first one. But because RotF is looked upon poorly, to the point where Bay actually apologized for it, people kind toned down the fan bashing a bit.

And I came to appreciate the film series for what it was.

Saw it my 3rd year of university, with my best friend. We both thought it was amazing - visually. Never seen anything like it. Saw it several more times in theatres.

I'd love for the franchise to return to that - the amazement. But it would need a complete tonal shift from what it's doing now - one-upping itself over and over. I hope that happens.

Saw it a couple days before ROTF in 2009. Didn't even hear of it or know much about Transformers at all until I saw the ROTF trailer before seeing a movie at the theater. Megatron coming out of the water sucked me right in. Rented the 2007 film at Blockbuster's (That ancient place) and loved it.

TF07 is the film that officially got me into Transformers, without it I doubt I would be here today. And the Transformers Franchise has been my favorite Franchise ever since.

I was 13 and didn't really know much at all about Transformers at the time. I just kept seeing the trailer playing like every other commercial on tv and got super excited about it super fast lol Remember asking my dad like crazy to take me to see it. Walking out of the theater after it was over my mind was freakin' blown...:lol  Still have the ticket head from it.

I love the 2007 film. It was what actually got me into Transformers in the first place. Also the best and most favorite memory was watching the Autobots transform for the first time introducing themselves to Sam

I love the fact that I had no intention of seeing it because back in 2007 I was 10 and wasn't a fan at all, but I watched it and left the movie theatre completely in love with the entire franchise. I went back and watched it four times! I watched all the g1 episodes and every morning while getting ready for school I would watch Transformers Cybertron and then Animated came out. So the first film is special to me because it sparked my eternal love for Transformers.

This film got me into the franchise; how could I forget?

I didn't actually see in in theatres as I was too young(6 years old) to sit through a 2 - hour long movie, and a live - action one no less. That and for some reason I thought all the Transformers were bad guys. My parents went to see it by themselves.

I gave the movie a chance when my folks convinced me to watch it when they bought the DVD. I remembered only watching the Battle At Mission City, and thinking Ironhide was a Decepticon as he was all grey(colour was important for young me to tell stuff apart) and how that woman screamed when he fired. I also didn't catch that Jazz died until two years later when I realised he wasn't in ROTF.

I managed to figure things out on my own eventually and even then being perplexed by Barricade ' s disappearance, and how the Tank Decepticon had 2 names. I decided the movie was the coolest thing ever and convinced my parents to buy the toys, and...

Well you know how it goes.

I didn't see it in theaters because there were a couple of scenes that my folks would rather have fast forwarded, but the previews alone got me into the franchise by buying toys and watching G1. I loved the movie when I saw it on DVD.

Between then and now, I collected hundreds of toys and watched all of the American cartoons. Then came one evening of 2014...I decided to watch the first film again for the first time in a while and, well, it was almost painful to watch. The dialogue was cheesy, the plot was littered with holes, and the humor belonged in a raunchy teen comedy. It made me cross-examine the franchise, and my view of it was changed forever, and my taste in movies has developed. The only thing keeping me connected to the franchise is my Youtube channel for which I'm working on my final video.

The first film got me completely into the franchise too.

First was exposed to Beast Wars, didn't understand it, saw Car Robots in Disguise, 2001 incident happened and never saw it again. Then came Cybertron and watched it all! But then I had a chance to fully get into Transformers by watching the first film, tried to vote for Peter Cullen's quote in the film, but couldn't because I wasn't in the US. However, I watched the first movie three times that left a smile upon my face. Thanks to it, I'm a full fledged Transformers fan!

I was 10 when I saw it, and I remember watching the trailers thinking Bumblebee was Hot Shot and Blackout was Cyclonus, because I'd only ever been aware of the Unicron Trilogy until that point.
The best moment was easily the Autobots introduction, it was just so magical. I got the DVD for Christmas the same year and must have watched it 10 times over 2 weeks, to the point where I could (and probably still can) quote that scene word for word, with all the accents to boot.
For me, DOTM and AoE were both lacking in some of the magic that TF1 and even ROTF had, but thinking about it now, it might just be the result of me growing up.

Seeing it with my girlfriend at the time. When bee transformed. The music. Primes opening dialaogue and him saying ebay, which prompted me to pick up g1 skorponok. Everyone thought the decepticons looked weird. Starscream getting away. After the movie going home and feeling like we just saw a piece of history.

The first movie will always be great to go back and watch IMO.
