Nothing anywhere states Bay or anyone significantly responsible for the previous TF films will be writing this, and in fact it's more likely that others will replace them, since they have stated that they are getting new writers and such for these spinoffs. That, along with being set entirely on Cybertron with no characters except Transformers, makes it much more likely to respect source material better.

Way to jump the gun, there.

It's a spinoff... as in it still ties to what has already been established in the TF movie verse. It might be a lot better, who knows, but it will always be missing its potential because you know it ends up leading to the shitty 4 movies. Imagine they do a great battle between Shockwave and Roadbuster... they fight, and Shockwave wins by showing his real might. Awesome, but then they reference shit from the movie, and you know it can't be the same Shockwave who turned over and died so quickly without really having any impact or substance. That memory of the fail that is the movies will always be there to remind you that nothing in this spinoff really matters when it all ends so horrendously.

The only way it will work is if it has to do with an alternate universe in which somehow nothing in the movies get to take place.

One way of rebooting the movies is to have Optimus go back in time followed by AOE Galvatron. That would definitely give writers an opportunity to alter/improve things. It would be interesting to see past and future characters run into each other, and give characters that were pretty much wasted in the earlier movies another chance to shine.

    Let's see. this time:

The Autobots stay well away from the Witwicky's house.

Future Optimus quietly wrecks a certain ancient machine in the desert.

Ironhide makes sure Sentinel Prime never wakes up.

Galvatron is not too impressed by his napping former self. Opts to let him stay that way.

Galvatron makes it clear to the Fallen and everyone else that he bows to no-one.

Galvatron meets the Twins. It's a very short meeting.

Starscream is not too happy with his new and improved boss. Wakes up Megatron. Megatron is NOT happy. Neither is Galvatron. Poor old Starscream.

Shockwave studies Galvatron's future-tech and unobtrusively upgrades himself. He has plans of his own.

    And, so on.

I think the spinoff should be focused on Optimus Prime because he is the best hero

More character is never a bad thing.

I'm getting less of a Days of Future's Past vibe and more of a Terminator Genesys vibe. I think it'd be hilarious to watch this movie. :lolol

The sad realization is it probably doesn't matter what they do, with Hasbro stewarding I have very little faith at this point. Whatever it is will likely be TF in name only.

I've reached that no faith point as well. Just too many times of things like Decepticons just there for the heroes to kill to think that Paramount is ever going to change. I also get this vibe that Hasbro doesn't really care what Paramount does, it kind of feels like Hasbro just sits back and lets the production teams do anything they want.

This doesn't surprise me at all if that's the case.

Hasbro doesn't even seem to care much about the critical backlash sincet hey make so much from it.

You are absolutely right. They need to distance them selves from the bayverse as much as possible. I think the majority of fans hoped that a return to the solid form that made them popular in the first place would be something that fans could get behind. I mean in AOE bay came out with Transformium, Are you kidding me ? A misty cloud of technology that just mashes together. This is a guy that obviously doesn't think much of the fan base. A guy that says the old forms wouldn't work in the movieverse then gives us Transformium, and an Optimus prime straight out of a medieval times knights of the round table form Sheesh!!!

If they do go with a CG animated movie a return to the tried and true forms of the 86 movie I think would be huge, They can still modernize the vehicle forms. And I get the corny joke thing and it is entertaining to a degree. Just keep the campy lighter side Vibe (al'a RID) to a minimum. Bring back the the characters that made this universe, Not a small rag tag group of autobots and decepticon with army of clones that are nothing more then cannon fodder. that's just lazy. Each transformer had a personality and attribute that made them unique ie. Wheel jack=inventor not wrecker, or ironhide with that raspy southern drawl, heck even Megatron with that maniacal diabolical laugh. Not these taken out of context one liners that add nothing to the characters personality. Hasbro needs to fire who ever it is that keeps trying to reinvent the wheel a give the fan base what they truly want!!!

Not read the entire thread, but this post did remind me of something from way back when a lot of us were filled with hope and optimism for the upcoming first live-action Transformers movie:
Makes me hopeful that this early fan-made teaser video might finally come to pass:

Personally I'd prefer it if they started with a prequel and then kinda forgot to tie it up to the other BayFormers movies and just ignored them and went their own way. Throw it into a story that spawns an alternate timeline or universe that isn't beholden to the BayFormers we've had so far.
