I just got a Wii U today, and it's what I'm using to type this. I really like this console so far.

I haven't used my PS4 or Wii U for that matter. I will admit, although unnecessary, the internet browsing speed is fast, really fast and benefits from the gamepad. Still seeing Let's Players that are being affected by the Creator's Program.

There is a Nintendo humble bundle right now. It is a mix of Wii u and 3ds games.

It should be mentioned that this is only for the NA region.

I return to my most successful thread with some experiences, opinions, and predictions. Enjoy.

I have had a Wii U since Christmas 2012, so I have spent a good deal of time with the console and watched it's UI, stability, and library improve. On the Wii U, I have played 15 full retail games in its library, of those, I have returned 4. I do have a sizable Virtual Console collection and more eShop games than I'd like to admit.

I see the Wii U as a failure in many ways. Nintendo has a number of very interesting ideas within the structure of the console, but none are particularly relevant and feel like a true step forward for their business. Online is still a mixed affair. Third party support is more nonexistent than in the Game Cube days. Few gimmicks like Miiverse, Amiibo, and Asymmetrical Multiplayer/Window gaming feel fully fleshed out. Then, there are the games, a majority of which feel the most iterative in the history of their respective franchises.

That's not to say you can't find fun or even original ideas on the Wii U. Despite the iterative nature of titles like Mario Kart 8 and 3D World, they feel the most polished and feature unique ideas. There's also wacky titles like The Wonderful 101 and Splatoon that feel bizarre and fresh. But the truth is, there just isn't enough on the Wii U. The western library will be seeing it's first full retail RPG in the form of Xenoblade Chronicles X later this YEAR- three years after the console's launch. Genres are represented in one or two cases, with the only genre seeing a wealth of content being 2D platformers- no surprise, coming from Nintendo. While it's arguable if 2015 will be the Wii U's greatest year (I think it might be, which is sad), the games releasing at least feel varied and new.

I love the interface, I love Off-TV play, and I love the Gamepad, in truth. But the lack of content outside of indie titles is disheartening, and I think Nintendo needs to think hard about what is next for them. Now, for my predictions:

-We will see one more surprise, cheap $40 title at E3 aside from Starfox. Yes, Starfox will not be a full-priced game, Miyamoto will do an episodic release.
-The headlining games at E3 will be Xenoblade, Mario Maker, and Starfox, with additional glimpses at Devil's Third, Fatal Frame V, Yoshi's Wooly World, and a mysterious $40 year end release.
-Zelda will be Nintendo's big push at E3 2016, which gives us until around 2017 for the Wii U to have legs. This is important.
-The NX is going to be a hybrid console, able to be portable and a marked upgrade from the 3DS, but also serving as a Home console replacement as well. This will allow the saturated 3DS market to be revitalized and give the Wii U a proper method of bowing out instead of trying to struggle one more year.

Enjoy Splatoon and get ready for a disappointing E3, everyone.

Zelda giving the Wii U legs? They delayed it for a NX release more than likely, I wouldn't hold out breath it'll ever see the light of day on Wii U.

As long as the Creator's Program exists and the Wii U lacks third party support the system will never have legs.

Twilight Princess got released on both Gamecube and Wii. Their reasoning however was that they wanted to add more content and refine the game some more. Time will tell.

Maybe if third parties would actually put some work into their Nintendo versions instead of going "Well here is a half assed version! Buy our other versions kids!" Maybe... Just maybe they'd sell some copies.

Why would third party put any support into a less powerful console with a much smaller install base?

I mean fuck Project Cars is struggling to get 30 FPS/720p out of the console. It's ridiculous.

That's funny.. Third Parties love to support the weaker systems when they -arn't- nintendo consoles.

Which ones would those be again? GCB had good third party support and it was the last console they had that was stronger than either a Playstation or Xbox service. Wii was way weaker, and the Wii U is on par with last gen at this point.

To make matters worse, Nintendo doesn't ask these companies to put their games onto their system.

And why did the PS2 have such great support? Install base.
