So heres my first custom on the TFW boards. I'm a fan of Nova Prime's character and I don't have the budget to purchase Maketoys' Hyper Novae.
Nova Prime was the predecessor to Nominus Prime. An expansionist and a supremacist, Nova Prime believed that Transformers were the greatest among all life forms and that they should bring their glory to the myriad of lesser races throughout the universe.
After being sucked into the Dead Universe, Nova was chosen to be the host for the Darkness, an otherworldly counterpart of the Matrix of Leadership which worked by transforming the inhabitants of the Dead Universe into undead wielders of anti-life. Upon merging, Nova was reborn as the sinister and extremely powerful Nemesis Prime. He now sees it as his mission to fulfil the Darkness' imperative by expanding the Dead Universe's hold into the living realm.
Nemesis may seem to hold sway over both his troops and the Darkness, but nothing could be further from the truth. The powerful Galvatron sees the Darkness as his rightful inheritance. And then, there is the fear. The fear that the Darkness has more in common with the Matrix than Nemesis is comfortable with. He feels he has earned this power, and isn't willing to see it follow its natural path. It is for this reason he must eliminate Optimus Prime. And it is for this reason he fears to face his successor.

I got this figure from my friend cam1170 (not on this forum) for an excellent price.

Since Nova Prime is mostly two main colours, I'd actually just use a screwdriver and disassemble most of the large chunks, separate them based on the dominant colours of that part, and then spray-paint them. From there you can just do touch-ups on the finer details.

Hand painting, especially novice hand painting, always looks pretty gloppy on Transformers. One or two light layers of spray will look much better I believe.

I'd go with a matte white or off-white for most of it. Krylon Fusion is probably the best way to start... it reliably sticks to plastics, even if it takes a really long time to dry and harden.

Good idea... this mold really conveys Nova Prime, even if there are a lot of differences from the IDW version. You could also play with some light customizing too... gluing some bits on the chest panels to resemble his comics model, or attaching the "feather" panels to the Cybertron Optimus power-up wings.

OK I was planning to un-screw and spray paint. The windows will be painted solid blue and I am not sculpting bits nor replacing the wings. That may be in V2 ;)  and Krylon is already in my stash just not off white.

must say, it's an excellent choice; galaxy convoy/cybertron prime has got the right mix of alien and trucker to play as nemesis prime, especially when trasnformed in full super mode

I don't get why someone, namely Fun Pub or Hasbro, hasn't done this or that Cybertron Megatron as Overlord already.

I was under the impression that it was okay to post a thread announcing the custom.

OK the figure has dust on on it, do I need to get rid of that, and also would I need to prime (no pun intended) the figure for Krylon Fuision?

It is always best to work on a clean surface. I do not know if you need primer, however paint tends to adhere better on a primed surface

If you don't clean the dust off then it will get a bunch of nasty bumps under the surface. Also the mold release on the toy will keep the paint from sticking good.

As bad as it sounds, I would recommend taking the figure apart and washing the parts.

I was already planning on taking it apart so just basically wash it in pieces?
