I hate to say it like this, but every now and then I feel that some people are truly Nintendrones.

My father praised the Wii U's use of the gamepad and how it aided with the menus. I laughed at him, gamers don't want that.

    Plz.

What's paying got to do with anything? Because it's free you have to put up with substandard or missing features? Why can I chat with friends in Mario Kart but not Splatoon? Am I paying to play Mario Kart online? I'm so confused right now.

Splatoon is already a game with missing features though.
No voice chat and no friends only lobbies, or matchmaking with friends until August.
And yeah, five maps at launch and at least 9 post-launch for free sounds okay, but two of those maps have been used in trailers since November 2014, and they're not in the game at launch. What the fuck?

No relationship between the two. On PS3 there are many games with voice chat and online was free on that device. Heck, Nintendo already has several games with voice chat, such as Pokemon and Animal Crossing(which was made by the same people making Splatoon). Even Metroid Prime Hunters on DS had it and that game launched almost a decade ago!

I feel they might be ready but Nintendo is trickling them out slowly to try and keep attention on the game. Personally I think they're harming it. It's sad that this is launching with only 5 maps, which is barely half the average for a third person multiplayer shooter.

I personally don't use voice chat, and when I do I actually tend to go on skype on my phone for a clearer sound anyways.
But I do understand why people want it.

After playin it though, I feel like voice chat teams would completely dominate no voice chat teams. The point I feel was to get the game pad to be your control centre and see where you need to be etc.

In a team focused online game the idea should be to leave voice chat out? What?

It would be nice to have the option for voice chat in Splatoon, but Turf War matches are only three minutes each and the GamePad shows you what parts of the map aren't covered in your ink. There will be other modes added to the game, but I don't think they would need voice chat either. An option would be nice, but I'm fine with it.

Good grief if you're going to come up with terrible analogies at least have the decency to do so on a comparable platform and not one that can easily run skype et al in the background.

Teams of equal skill using voice against those not will destroy the muted team every. Single. Time.

Splatoon has it's own thread so can we move all this nonsense to that thread please, thanks.

    I fucking lol'd at Bill.

I think the point of the kid was to say "hey, we haven't been doing great this year, here's why, but now we're back to kick some ass".
