It's an age of renewals, reunions, and new seasons. If we can get a new season of Full House, we can damn well get the G1 crew back together for new episodes.

I want to catch up with the G1 cast 30 years after "The Rebirth." Cyberton has entered a new golden age. There's tons of potential.

I'd love to see Prime and a few other G1 bots with upgrades (Prime finally gets his Powermaster gear in a toon) and deal with the fallout from Galvatron's truce. How long did that last? What does the new and relatively settled status of Cybertron mean for the TF race and the galaxy at large? Do Autobots remain on Earth? Do the factions dissolve on Cybertron, or do new factions emerge?

Cullen, Welker, and the other surviving cast aren't getting any younger. I'd be thrilled with a DTV mini or movie.

Sorry, but this series missed it's chance. The franchise went through it's G1 obsession from 2010, to 2013, and I personally don't want to see the franchise go back there.

We've gotten too many reimaginings of G1 for it to work now. Wait a decade.

It's very unnecessary to make a G1 cartoon sequel.

G2 could have been that but alas, it's too late.

    Enjoy the modern incarnations.

A G1 sequel would be awesome, give some of the later additions to the TF cast a chance to shine, instead of the usual Optimus/Bumblebee/Ratchet/Jazz rehashings, or the newer trend of cramming the latest comic book darlings down fans throats.

I'm surprised by the negative reactions. I'm guessing a few of you are not G1 fans at all.

I think a better finale is needed. "The Rebirth" was rushed and was a product of 80s storytelling.

Get the original writers back with the freedom of today and let them tell one final G1 tale. I've got a lot of ideas about how the series could be ended for good or used as a springboard for occasional minis or movies within that continuity.

I like how easy you think it is to just do this.

"Get the gang back together, one more last hurrah!"

Aren't the comics currently doing this?

Bad idea. Sorry. Nope. And G1 is my favorite era. The main reason is because we already have had way too much G1 since 2003 with BT/Alts, CHUG, Re-issues, Masterpiece, WFC, FOC, IDW-verse... There's been a lot of mediums and toys to enjoy G1 and G1-re-imagined.

Give some new mythology time to shine and grow and maybe in ten years, when there's been a lull in G1-nostalgia, HasTak should do a 40th anniversary series.

Are you telling people that they are not "fans of G1" simply because they disagree with you on the idea G1 needs a sequel series?

Because if we're getting to technicalities here, that sequel already happened: Generation 2. Generation 1 wasn't even known as Generation 1 through its entire existence until G2 came into being, giving the original series its name by virtue of there having to had been a Generation 1 before Generation 2.

Also, the original writers admitted that they rushed the hell out of the original series. To them, it was just punching out scripts before a deadline for a kid's toy-shilling commercial cartoon, since G1 in its heydey actually wasn't the multi-billion franchise it would become in modern times.

You want a sequel series that goes where G1 left off? The IDW G1 comics have done just that - the actual "Great War" ended, but the story has only gotten deeper and deeper.

No way. Apart from a few episodes the G1 cartoon was mostly crap. The voice cast and background music were amazing but the writing was just silly for the most part.

Even as a kid I thought so but I grew up on Furmans UK comic so the cartoon never had a chance.

I'd prefer a new G1 cartoon starting from scratch. Or else just animate the marvel run.

Sorry but apart from More than meets the eye most of idw has been pure slag!

I love the idea. Let me know when you get Kasey Kasem, Scatman Crothers, and Ed Gilbert back into the booth.

Seriously, I would settle for an English adaptation of the Takara G1 trilogy. Though I'm more up for a modern version of the same basic story.

I would love a cartoon sequel to G1, but I'm not sure exactly how it would work. The execution would be a bit difficult, let's not forget that hastak is in the business of selling toys. So one would probably need to use updated character designs and then have a toyline to sell at the same time. Something like the classics like comes to mind. One would also have the "problem"'of the live action transformers movies coming out every few years and having to put out toys for those at the same time.

Logistically for the cartoon characters there would be a number of questions. Would we get the original voice actors back (as many as possible anyways), would this show be beholden to the continuity of the origina G1 cartoon? One would need to introduce kids today to the G1 world and make it a seamless transition. I like the idea and I would love to see it, but it would be difficult to execute.
