This has been the case for a long time, as alot of people squat on rooms when the hotel block first opens up, once it gets nearer to the deadline for CC being charged, those people who know they aren't going will release the rooms.. I THINK Pete mentioned the deadline for charging people's CC is like a week or so before the Con, so several days before that time, look for onesy twosies to open up. He also mentioned possibly getting more rooms/doing an overflow hotel.
Not really, I looked 2 weeks ago and they had several twin rooms, then last week it was only Queen rooms in the tower. Now there is none. So the sellout is recent, but your other points about people cancelling their rooms are valid.
It's been sold out since April 11th, and so is the Hotel across the street! This Botcon is going to be a clusterfuck!
Hotel across the street has been sold out, but like I said, there were Queen Rooms left in the tower at Pheasant run last week. IIRC, they were going for $134/night. Trust me, I've been checking.
I was at the hotel on the 11th, I spoke two people at the front desk both confirmed the hotel being sold out for Botcon.
They probably F'd something up because there are 3 buildings at the "resort" and they said all 3 were sold out.
I've already been charged for the first night, quite a few months ago. That was one of the stipulations on reserving a room. I don't mind it since it means one night is already covered.
I am not doubting either of you. Some people might have given up their rooms between the 11th and now and those rooms were probably taken up recently.

Glad I got my room months ago. Though it's a bit odd how I can't check my reservation online yet when I call the front desk there it's in their systems just fine.
I had the same issue as well. Trying to call them and confirm with them was a pain. I could barely hear them when I called and I'm pretty sure it wasn't my cell phone. I wasn't very impressed. I made my reservation last weekend. However, I'm not going to be at Botcon for all 4 days so that might be why I was able to make a reservation. I was also able to make a reservation at the hotel across the street if I wanted to (again, it wasn't for all four days though.)
What's sad is people that take EVERY opportunity to come in threads and take passive aggressive swipes like a jilted girlfriend. We get it, youuuu are NEVA EVA EVA getting...back together with Funfub.
All I can say is I'm fine with whatever system they have in place as long as they don't claim I don't have a reservation when I finally do get there, I've had to go through that crap with a few hotels in the past and that's the last thing I'd like to deal with when attending Botcon.
