How is Hasbro NOT meeting the demands of collectors? We have Masterpiece we have CHUG? Other than not making every character available at the same time they're doing exactly what the fans want. Sure not every fan is going to love the end result of a particular figure, but Hasbro is trying, they have a lot more limitations to their business since they have stock holders to please and make sure the big box stores will continue to carry the product, along with making sure the toys meet safety standards, hit certain price points and fit within a budget.

I can understand protecting intellectual property. Combiner Wars Constucticons will likely be on display so I could see Hasbro not being trilled at non-licensed Constucticons around the dealers room while Hasbro is attempting to push their Constructicons.

On the other hand I do think Hasbro has be realistic about things they are never ever going to make. With Hasbro's reluctance to produce weapon packs it seems that some non-licensed original creations greatly enhance the hobby for those collectors with the hobby budgets to afford it.

Hopefully, is just sad that people can't seem to understand that, Japan has a bigger adult collector's market from what I have seen and read online, we have thank Takara for the MP line because I don't think Hasbro would care at all to continue doing it all on their own if it wasn't for the Japanese collector market there.

HASBRO makes just enough changes to keep the lawyers happy.
Car companies may or may not be happy... but would they pass up an opportunity for HASBRO to pay licensing fees when the next movie or MP comes around?

And it doesn't matter if you can't drive a Deluxe sized Transformers down the street: You can't drive a HOT WHEELS down the street either and they have to pay licensing fees.

And HASBRO must pay those fees, even tho the car design is NOT the main selling point of the toy. The main selling point is the brand Transformers, and the character. But if they want their car to look like a specific vehicle, they have to pay a fee.

And if they don't want to pay a fee, then they do what 3P does to them: change just enough of the features to get around it.

cuz with the actual level of 3rd parties, filling up the wholes from hasbro, hurts their sellings and shows their lack of end-product quality

well dont a MP was delayed because takara having some trouble in getting a license? so occasionally they do pass an opportunity for licensing..

and when come to movie, isnt it the other way around? i seems to remember that general motor (or insert a brand here) that pay to have their brand appear in the movie.

Everyone here is right. But it doesn't matter.
Botcon is affiliated/sponsored/made relevant by, hasbro.
The terminology and mind-numbing soapbox maneuvers don't matter.
The opinions of the people on a transformers website don't really matter, and that's ok.
It's their convention, and I can see no reason why they can't set the terms and conditions of their party.

yeah, japan do have a bigger market on adult collector, this is also probably why their children's toy are so well made because they know adult are also going to buy them and most big company like bandai have a separate line dedicated to adult collector.

Your probably right on that front. I would agree that might be the case, and makes the BEST sense I have heard on this board all day. Great Job! I see that may be to the case. Smart! Very sensible.

Hey guys, I'm going to jump in here once to remind everyone of the board rules, particularly:

    1. No Insults, Trolling, Flaming, Name Calling, Harassing, Etc.
We will not tolerate insults, excessive profanity or throwing a topic off course. Use of racial, bigoted, sexist, or discriminatory terms or phrases is not accepted. Posts intended solely to antagonize others are not accepted. Keep topics/posts where they belong. Generally, “play nice”.

    13. No Disruptive Posting or Flamebaiting
Do not purposely post anything which will cause another member (or members) to react negatively. This is subjective. The TFW2005 staff will evaluate the trend of posts made by those consistently being reported or those that are repeatedly involved with arguments on the site. If their overall method or content of posting leads to staff attention repeatedly, we reserve the right to warn, infract and/or ban accordingly.

Please feel free to discuss this topic, but remember to do so civilly, especially with those you disagree with. Failure to do so will result in formal moderation (infraction points/thread bans). Play nice or don't play at all.

I fully understand it but it's very questionable for their revenue, I guess this means there can be no fan art, customs, and certainly no toys.

It only makes sense to me that the same people that have the cash to drop on 3rd party stuff are the same people that have the money to drop on tables and those packages from Botcon.

I'm sure some peoplle are going there solely to get the Botcon set and buy 3rd party stuff they can't find online.

I am not into which one is better or not I'm just talking about it from a business point of view.

Ok, I was in no way told to do this by anyone, but here goes TO:Shadowfall1976. After Re reading that post a couple of times and better understanding of what was said. I completely and utterly owe you an APOLOGY. You do not! I completely take back what I said and it had 'too much information' on it. ALL I sensed was hostility and my mind read it to be completely opposite of what it actually said. I am saying this to all member who read that and had know it was a mis reading on my part! So with Care and Love for my fellow man. I humbly ask your forgiveness and I will ask you disregard for what all I said and Quoted. I APOLOGIZE and in future I will read more carefully what is written by YOU and ALL my Fellow man. If it is such that you do not wish to forgive me, then I completely understand as the statement was long, harsh and uncalled for. I am not a better man for anything. I do have a conscience and it does work most of the time! Thank you for your time -Richie Chambers

Also, on top of that the people that have fan art, tables with third party items, or even the third party people themselves, may also be buying the packages that makes the convention money.

2 to add to the ignore list

It's cool now. Things happen, topics like this are always going to be upsetting to some.

From this point forward, let's move any necessary apologies to the pm boxes. Glad everyone's chilling out now.

Ok, back on point - discuss the topic away, fellas :)

    Hey pete,

I think you should also (if you haven't done so already) most likely touch on the subject of 'donation'.

Yes, I'm from california. We "Donate" for medicine, so I just wanted to bring that up just in case it wasn't brought up and vendors used it as a loophole.

I love my third party figures, but Im not gonna give 'dad' a titty twister, so to speak.

probably not since fan art and custom are individual commission work, not a mass produce product... i'm not an expert on law, but i think they fall under fair use.

if i draw superman and sell it to someone else, DC cant come after me... if i draw superman in a comic and publish it, then they'll probably after me.
