Our next gallery from the Combiner Wars is Decepticon Viper! Viper is a redecoed version of Powerglide with a new head. Intended as an army builder, he is something very cool - a crossover with G.I. Joe, with the plane being based on the Cobra Rattler and the robot mode's new head taking inspiration from the Rattler pilot Wild Weasel, which is also what the Z06 on the wing refers to. To top it all off, the robot chest and the other wing feature a modified Cobra logo, based on the Cobra / Decepticons logo from the Devil's Due G.I. Joe / Transformers crossover series.

Viper's deco is excellently done, and the new head sets him apart from Powerglide. Like Powerglide, he has a simple but effective transformation that leaves him with side-to-side head movement, but as with Powerglide, he's got no biceps swivels. Viper transforms into a weapon to be wielded by other, larger, Transformers - a call-out on the packaging places him as the sidearm of Cyclonus' gestalt form, Galvatronus, but any Transformer with a 5mm peg socket can wield him. Like Powerglide, Viper has no accessories, so for some of these photos I gave him the gun that came with the Generations Legends Optimus Prime.

Overall, Viper is a cool little redeco. He looks fantastic and the G.I. Joe crossover is an extra bonus. Well worth checking out when he hits stores - until then, live vicariously through our gallery!

I really want this guy, never thought I'd see a figure like this which makes it all the more desirable.

 

Nice pics! Figure looks pretty decent. The new head sculpt is appreciated. The symbol makes it a bit more tempting to pick up.

 

For anyone not sure what he looks like, the face-as mentioned in OP- was inspired by Cobra's own resident ace pilot, Wild Weasel. As a whole this figure is a huge success, I may set him up with my Stunticons since I don't intend on owning Galvatronus.

 

Hope they do more crossovers .a cobra/seeker superion retool would be phenomenal

I'm an MP guy, but this does look pretty cool. Makes me want an MP Powerglide, now that this character is an established retool option.

anyways Viper is cool, he makes a great duo with Darkwing.

 

I have Powerglide but haven't open him yet. I will be getting Viper for Cyclonus. Just love the blue color scheme on him.

 

Cool, hope to see him soon. I was actually thinking of sticking him with the Combaticons for now. Curious to see what the limbs will be for Galvatronus.

Wow. I like his color scheme more than Powerglide's. Fantastic redeco.

 

That new nose makes for a neat change! The new Wild Weasel based head reminds me of a Gobot, great pics Sol!
