Victorion is the best name.... for a male combiner. I dunno, I just find this weird. But um, you know, yay, more female transforming robots, I guess...

It seems people make such a big deal out of the gender, though. Don't get me wrong - diversity is fine, but sometimes it feels too heavy-handed. Still, it was a fan's choice thing, so... I wonder how close it was, though?

They've been heavily implied to be remoulds of current toys for brand new characters.

Yeah 30 years of 90-95% male bots was very heavy handed.

didn't we like had an unused old timey vehicle altmode combiners concept like for G1 from whatever that article about Takara's unused concept line art collections?

though the scale is a bit out of wack with a car being roughly the same size as a steamboat.

Yeah don't get me wrong I like Malebots but it's just so forced how most of them are Male, like really why do they have to make such a big deal out of making most TFs identify as Male?

Nothing wrong with Malebots there's just too bloody many.

I'm glad they will be new characters. I wouldn't mind if they used pre-existing characters as long as they were ones who don't yet have a figure.

Really? Sounds like Victoria to me. With a robot twist and a play on words which can also mean "victory."

    Seriously.

Well, it's fine - just add more females and we'll be good :)

Got bored and decided to do female transformers toy maths. These are near estimates, sure I've missed one or two.

Excluding things like miniconskreons and non transformings, and including exclusives there have been toys of 41 female characters, 19 of which have been name reuses in different variations. there have been 80 toys produced in the last 30 years. 25 were original moulds. 37 were repaints of existing female moulds. 17 were gender-swapped toys which were originally male. 1 was a half male/half female original mould. 31% of toys were made specifically to be a female character. When it's released the Victorion team will represent 7% of all female toys released in the last 3 decades. There are several thousand different TF toys, including repaints and reuses

    Intended purely as a reference.

If I've heard correctly, Victorion was a name of a badass from Brave, so it's a cool throwback (also, a lesser reference would be to the name "Victoria", an obviously female name).

Also, if they want to draw any of the members as a bigger woman, I will be perfectly fine with that. Not every female has to be busty and hourglass-like

I suppose in the same way "Megatron" sounds like "Megan".

Call me crazy, but I think that applying a human name to a Transformer is just plain silly. *glances at Minerva*

You know, it's too bad there was a vote on a unified color scheme. I could see them taking some previously non G1 characters and making them into Victorion.

    Override (from Dead End)
    Airazor (from Silverbolt)
Blackarachnia (from Breakdown, homage to Binaltech Blackarachnia)
    Strongarm (from Offroad)
    Strika (from Rook)

Thanks for doing the math, most estimates I've seen put the number of characters between 5-10% and the number of toys is a fraction of that.

In terms of actual characters, if we just use the main series as a metric, and including comic characters and whatnot for both genders as would take forever to split in toys and have no toys, females make up approximately approximately 10.86% of all transformers characters (my best fit estimate is around 2000 characters). But as mentioned before, the number of toys released is in the thousands. I saw a conservative estimate for Prime's release of 6274. So if we use that as the minimum metric, female transformers make up 11% of the character roster and 1.2% of the toy merchandise.

I also agree. I'd like to see more character put into the retools and less "we put a "pretty" face on a robot. Transformers is getting more open with having a wide range of female personas, and I think visually this needs to continue too. Not just the "Arcee curvy bot" we had introduced initially with the reintroduction of fems into transformers.

I personally hope they make a REAL effort with the retools to differ them from the already existing CW molds. Just want them to look like an effort was done to make them real characters, and not just a gimmick to get people on board.

I'm super excited about this combiner. Wasn't until I heard the results. Victorion is an excellent name as well. If you put the same emphasis on the later part of the word, it sounds just as awesome as Superion. Very cool.

Can't wait to see the decos, and yes, please have some have faceplates.

Only negative, and a small one at that, was I wanted a female decepticon combiner. Or maybe even just Neutral. But yeah, it seems for the next year or so, Autrobots cornered the demographic of femmbotes.

its sort of sad that somebody who's into transforming robots mambo jumbo failed to listen to the historical facts that this Combiner shared the same name of a bot' from Takara's Brave series from the old Brave Saga video games, who is a guy by the way.

probably awesome if her design, particularly in combined mode is a homage to him.

    ^ THIS.

I don't know where people are getting "Victoria" from. It's "Victory" + "ion" just like Superion is "Superior" + "ion".

I don't like the combiner wars figures.
    1. they are a bit small, and don't fit well in my collection.
    2. they take existing, non-combiners and turn them into combiners, which i don't like, or need in my collection.

    So If these are new characters (and they look good) I'll be buying them. cause;
    A. They're to new and obscure to be made into MPs.
    B. To new and obscure to be improved by 3rd partys, so these will likely be the only versions of these characters ever (like AlphaBravo).

    So looking forward to pictures.

The torso for Victorion here should be a new-mold Voyager Windblade.
