Really hope Perfect Effect makes a new lower body piece for him like they're doing for Menasor. If he had that (and of course their far superior hands and feet too) he'd be fan-freaking-tastic.

But at least the default figure is nicer looking than hasbros other two defaults.

Gorilla arms where the hands hang down to the knees, super chunky limbs, and not even accurate team make up.

Combiner wars, where it's ok to settle.

Just get vintage original G1 stuff or a KO stuff, it's cheap now if you're in it or nostalgia.

If you want an actual good toy, there are plenty of options from 3P.

Just cuz it's new and from hasbro finally trying to make combiners doesn't mean we need to give Hasbro money. Hasbro will never be able to give us actually good toys the way they're currently set up. They'll make money, but only cuz of kids. There's no reason for enthusiasts to give them the money.

Takara MP, 3P, Acid Rain, Armarauders, SoC, Arcadia/Bandai Macross . . . so many options.

CW Defensor looks great! I think that I prefer the "squat" look than the extended "puny-thighs" look. I don't hate Rook, but I hope that we get a better Deluxe Groove later on. I know that we're getting a "Legends" Groove, but why, to respect scale? Bah to scale, there is NO SCALE in Transformers; plus all combiner limbs must be Deluxe! :D

...I so wish Hasbro made these in box-sets.

I like what I see. That leg extension looks crappy though. He looks fine in the intended configuration. Just hope he's more stable than Menasor.

Thanks for the review! All the Protectobots sans Hot Spot have been released in Singapore! So disappointed that I can't form Defensor today! :(

I take back what I said about May, I would really like to have this on my desk now facing off with Meanasor! And even as a life long G1 fan I love Rook on the team, in part because the hulk hands, in part because another sign pointing to Computron, and last but not least it's a clean design and has a wicked unique head sculpt.

And just for the record.. on the subject of Groove, G1 accurate or no... It was stupid to make a motorcycle a limb on a combiner to start with anyway! There, It's been said, it's been put out on front street for all to see.

What about those who aren't in it for nostalgia, and don't have $500+ to spend on each combiner? Besides, I much prefer the aesthetic Hasbro is using over what TFC's using. Plus, I like the new characters, and there are options for the originals. The worst that's happened so far, is that they've changed what part of Defensor Groove forms.

I do, personally, draw the line with the Constructicons. Hasbro screwed them up. But other than that one exception, I prefer Hasbro's offerings, and can actually afford to collect all of them.

In real life "Scale wise": a motor cycle is smaller than a car.
We may needed to settle with a 3p maker for Groove.
More over, we can reuse the structure for AfterBurner.

i can't wait for this thing. i think hot spot looks fantastic as a torso.

i'm still not a fan of the front ends of the limb bots folding over in combined mode. with all of the cost cutting, repainting, and reused engineering, you'd think they could've been a bit more creative with how the limbs form.. especially with the breakdown mold. it just doesn't make any sense. i'm still annoyed that we're not getting a proper groove. but, with all that said, i still like the look of this figure.

    what's so awful about him?

Based on that fanmode of hotspots leg extended to further lengthen Defensor's leg...

Defensor's upper thigh will look fat/wide looking at him from the front and back, but thin as hell from the side

IMO this is the best looking combiner form yet! All the others look a little weak, but Defensor looks solid!

Wow just like Superior, combined looks awful but individually they are worth getting to have a team in bot mode. These will never see combined mode, I'll leave that to Feral Rex :)

Yep, Rook will always be an arm in my house. For the first time since this was revealed, I kinda want a Groove deluxe.

Let's see what TakaraTomy does. They have yet to include one of Hasbro's silly and random new members.

The thing is, until now, they've just had to retool an existing mold. As far as I know there is only one other bike combiner component, and he doesn't look much like Groove.

looks awful with his legs extended needlessly like that but otherwise a great looking combiner
