Oh wow a War and Peace White Optimus Prime Ultra Magnus...it's been a while we've seen that in toy form.

I kind of want them.

 

There's the forthcoming Optimus Maximus which is a white Prime as Magnus in all but name

 

I haven't seen a single pic of that toy.

 

There's the Legends Skywarp coming. And this Magnus has Black Legs? ... easy passes on this size. I'll wait for the Legends Skywarp, and maybe Optimus Maximus, which is for all intents and purposes a Magnus cab bot.

 

I'm rather grateful that I picked up TT's EZ Skywarp when I had the chance.

 

I'm curious to see if people will try to insert the Ultra Magnus Legends figure inside Leader Class Ultra Magnus in place of Minimus Ambus as a way to have a white Optimus Prime in Magnus somehow.

 

The box art for magnus shows Large Magnus in the all white colours of the inner robot.

No Grimlock photo yet? Just curious. I'm buying the hell out of that Skywarp, if I can find him. Like, I'm going to slam my money on the counter with a great flourish and shout out to the heavens because I've finally completed the trio. I'll probably get Magnus and Cliffy, too.

 

Yeah, is Grimlock:
1) Wave 2 Grimlock in unchanged wave 2 packaging
2) Wave 2 Grimlock in altered wave 3 packaging
3) the Rippersnapper sculpt in a third Grimlock-esque color scheme in wave 3 packaging
4) an entirely different sculpt?

 

I hope it's the RID Legion in G1 colors.

 

I think I figured out the bad taste in my mouth. We're getting Huffer from the IDW mold, and Magnus from the G1 Legion. Seems backwards to me.

 

Think of Legions as their own subline. Legends was supposed to be as well, but for some reason it's become the default place to do Minibots for the main Generations line.





Also, shouldn't someone edit the main news story since pics have been found to verify that these are indeed the figures they were rumored to be? Well, except for Grimlock whom we still have no idea which mold he is or what color scheme.

 

They can give Commanders a new head. They can't or won't with Legion. I don't want Huffer with an Optimus Prime head.

 

It would be just as easy to give the Legion class a new head.

 

I can see people trying that.

 

Sure they *could* do it, but the whole point of these is easy re-colors of existing molds. They've even cut the weapons out which is no cost on manufacture (since they're gang molded) but is a cost in extra parts/packaging (and tie-downs). If they're shaving costs by those amounts, they're certainly not going to add a new head.

 

I would cost the same amount for a Legion as it would be for a Legend. I paid $6 for Optimus without the sword, the least they could do is give the mold a new head.

 

You seems to misunderstand the target market/point of these Legion assortments. They're not available at mass retail or from the usual etailers, they're specifically for lower-end, Market 6 chains (mostly dollar stores). That's why these are always repaints. There's never been a new mold or new tooling. Up until recently they've just been repacks from the Unicron Trilogy era. These are minimal effort releases intended for low-budget markets.

Combine that with the fact that the only time in history that a legion figure has been retooled was for the GDO exclusives, its not a thing Hasbro does.


All that being said, forget a new head, give me the Legion Prime mold in Huffer colors and just deco Prime's head in navy to make a more G1-toy-accurate Huffer haha.

 

They're also significantly lower in quality as well. I bought a Prime for a non-collector friend at work and the "variant" BB from last years set and both had issues: prime had terrible paint aps and 2 of BB's wheels wouldn't spin due to badly alligned pins. Considering the original retail of these molds was $5.99 (RTS) and now the only store we've seen them in is getting them cheap enough to sell them for $3, they've cutting major costs to get Hasbro brand recognition in these el-cheapo market stores.
