Well looks like the hint they gave us for "The Muscle" became noticeable. The numbers 1987 show up in the Muscle's ID which match the year the original Battletrap toy was released.

Yeah I guess the evidence does seem to been pointing that way, plus as you said the ID number hint is pretty glaring.

So if everything speculated is true, the "Team" will be made up of a character from Beast Wars, Shattered Glass, Movie-verse and two from G1.

 

Ah... now I won't have to commission someone to make a similar custom for me lol

I would have chosen the Sandstorm version of the mold though.

 

Oh yes. I think he's sold me on the set, provided the rest are not horrendous.

 

He is fricking gorgeous and I want... nay - I NEED him.

The asymmetric black paint app homage to his rub symbol on the G1 toy will drive me nuts though. Cool Little homage.. however:
I CAN'T STAND THE LACK OF SYMMETRY!
I guess I'll either will try to remove the paint app or more likely paint it black on the other side of the chest and glorious symmetry will have been achived! Thus I will be able to sleep sound at night.

Wow indeed.... In all honestly my initial purpose was to simply compliment a well made figure and ponder what the rest could be.

But these lame excuses people make up kill me. I've never seen a group of people so fixed on talking themselves into paying 2x to 3x's the worth of a repaint.

Seriously, I've been frustrated for years now at the complaints that go "such-and-such was done at retail, so Hasbro could have done this-BotCon-exclusive at retail, too." It's really pretty ridiculous. Yes, Straxus proves that Hasbro can do amazing cool obscure things. That by no means suggests that any particular amazing cool obscure thing was likely to ever happen at retail. We should be glad that BotCon is making it happen at all, rather than complaining about the fact that BotCon demonstrates that Hasbro wasn't going to do it themselves.


(By the way, I'm actually kind of flattered that Pete apparently cares enough about my opinion... which I don't think anyone else actually shares... to have mentioned it in the video. Yes, I still think that Duocons should stay Duocons and not become triple-changers. That said, it's not like BotCon could ever have done a Duocon any other way, and a lot of other folks have been really wanting to see this happen for a while now, so while it's not my thing, now that it does exist, I'm happy for those who will get to enjoy it.)

 

well good for you then you've never bought a con exclusive figure.

but whatever point you attempt to make is quickly overlooked when you start with the "drinking the fanpub kool-aid" garbage.

 

This is a great looking toy and definitely an update I've wanted to see from this mold. I too hope that we get a Flywheels from Blitzwing so that both Duocons get some modern love.

 

Crosscut's barely making it to shelves at all. I'd hardly consider that a great example....

And rightfully so. The triple changer repaint looks great but forcing club members to buy the ugly blue rat with it only justifies the "aint".

Good, maybe Hasbro will get a clue that selling Generations figures at retail makes more money than any pittance they'd get from you guys.

Nothing personal. You might be a cool guy, its just that your employer tends to make collecting less than fun at times.

 

My only complaint is the black on the shoulder. I get the homage to it but makes it look like a paint app is missing.

 

I'm not a huge fan of the complex Springer. And I'm not looking forward to seeing Blitzwing become the other Duocon (as is likely in this set). If they do Blitzwing... oye.....  

I like the Packrat a lot, and this Battletrap isn't terrible (despite that it's a mold I don't love). Kind of waiting on the rest to decide.

These are too expensive NOT to nitpick the little details - if prices went down, you'd see more fans take the bad with the good!  

+1 for official double-toy Duocons.   This toy is neat, but really not as cool as the original...

Well the remark wasn't meant for everyone interested in this figure. So if the shoe fits perhaps Botcon repaint'em and charge you double for it if you ask them nicely......
